I thought this was a great deal and new my aunt would be celebrating her 40th wedding anniversary this year but just wasn't sure what date - so phoned her to let her know. Unfortunately her anniversary is 16th September so looks like she might just miss it
  • Hi Folks,

I seem to be getting conflicting info about this offer. My Wife is 40 within the offer period therefore we went to local asda store to enquire. On arrival we were told that they would look into it and get back to us. The next day we received a phone call to state that the offer was only applicable to "40thAnniversaries" and that she wasn't eligible?????? I get the feeling that we are being fobbed off and that ASDA are pulling a sneaky. Anyone clarify??

Meerustar, you mention that your friend got the vouchers for a birthday. Did the posters that you originally saw categorically state birthdays?

I emailed them when I first saw this thread as my husband is 40 on 9/9. The reply I got back today only referred to 40th wedding anniversaries and told me that we had to come in with our marriage certificate. I emailed back to seek clarification and received confirmation that it definitely doesn't apply to birthdays.

If the posters instore said birthdays too, it looks like they've realised how much it will cost them and have had a change of heart. :(

OK, I've been back to Eastlands today and the poster DOES APPLY TO 40TH BIRTHDAYS or at least it does in that store anyway.

Each and every poster up states 40th BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES and so looks like Asda are now pulling a fast one realising that this promotion may cost them a bit.

I hope someone can claim this money and come on here to let us know.
  • Have passed the info onto my mum & dad as their ruby anniversary is 4th sept. Also told my old school friend who is 40 on the 13th, so will find out soon enough if it's birthdays too. Unfortunately I was the baby of school year & am not 40 until next Aug - first time I have wished to be 40 sooner!

Can't you lot read the message properly. It says 40 years ANNIVERSARY meaning MARRIAGE not BIRTHDAYS.

Is this part of the SAME promotion too, I wonder?

COMMUTERS beware! Asda has recruited attendants to ‘clock’ parking.

Although this week they have been handing out warning notices, next week the store is getting tough and will be issuing £40 fixed penalty notices to anyone ‘abusing’ the car park.

    or just a MASSIVE co-incidence:D :D:D:D:D

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

    Pet48 (and Dublin4)

When Meerustar first posted he/she mentioned birthdays and anniversaries. He/she later edited their post in view of subsequent postings to only say anniversaries.

However, as mentioned by the same person yesterday the posters instore still stated birthdays and anniversaries.

Surely you can comprehend that anyone celebrating a 40th in that period might be feeling slightly miffed that Asda have apparently changed their minds

Mmm, happy 40th birthday to you too Asda!!
