Aw big hugs for you honey I know how you feel my beautiful cat died last July and I was devastated. We had him cremated and he sits in a little pot on our hearth with a photo. I still think about him everyday but now I smile insead of shed a tear he gave us a lot of happines as we did him. I have to admit though on reading the orange boy story I'm howling. I guess what i'm trying to say is time is a healer but you will never forget. We just got a little kitten as we felt we were both ready and our house just never felt the same without a four legged friend around the place.
Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it :D

i'm so sorry about your dog. i lost my lovely old border collie boy, shep, in feb. me and my mum were in floods of tears when we found out he was ill. i still get people coming up to me in the park when i'm walking izzy saying how sorry they are. it's so touching to see how much people care about animals. i've lost so many over the years and i still think about them now and then and have a good old cry. in time you'll feel less sad and more happy and proud of the lovely life you gave your dog. big hugs to everyone x

Having been lurking on various forums for ages, this one has made me register as it reduced me to tears
we also lost a beloved Molly last year - an 11 year old cat - she was more doglike in her adoration of me, to say we were heartbroken was an understatement
she'd had a cancerous lump removed & given the all clear 2 months previously & then died peacfully in her sleep at a cattery while we were away
I have her ashes in my room as I can't bear the thought of her not being around & still talk to her each day & there are times when I swear I hear or see her (wishful thinking)
What has helped is our other cat - we'd rehomed her a few years ago, so now she has to suffer all the extra attention that Molly lapped up!

Loved the poems - this one is on her box
    Your presence we miss
    your memory we treasure
    loving you always
    in our hearts forever

Big hugs to any one who is going through this bereavement - only animal lovers can understand it
I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.
I work to live, not live to work.
I love to live & live to love.
    Good enough is exactly that.

Just seen this thread and wanted to send big hugs to all who are grieving the loss of their pets. I lost my old girl more than a year ago now and I still miss her so much. But now I can remember her and all the joy we had together - it still aches but is not as painful as in the beginning. It does get easier though the gap they leave I think is always there - new dogs are loved as much but take their own place - they never replace the ones that we lose.
