My dog has died.

Daisy, that was absoultely lovely. I'm crying all over again now. How true those words are.
I miss her so much. Now i'm finding that i want to be in the house where she was, where she should be. I feel like she is here with me and i find comfort with that. Her Ashes will be coming home on Friday, and that is also making me feel better - knowing that she will soon be home again.

it helps to have the ashes home. thats what we did.
It might sound sad but whenever we have lost an animal i lit a candle in a lantern outside and left it burning all night to help them come home.

We have a candle in our bedroom, we've lit it every night since she's been gone. I've told the children it's Molly's candle.

I've just re-read that poem, the words are so beautiful. It says everything i want to say but couldn't put into words. Oh gosh, i'm crying again.

I Have Also Just Lost A Pet And I Know What You Are Going Through.
It's Hard To Explain But Many People Think We Are Mad As They Think Well It's Only A Dog. But These Pets Are Part Of The Family.
I Also Had My Pet Cremated And Said The Same Thing As You Did.
Have You Readthat Poem Called "rainbow Bridge" Because It Helped Me Come To Terms With My Loss.

I had to have my GSD put down about 2 years ago now.

I know how you must be feeling but it does get better.

Now when I think of him I only remember what a joy it was to have him around,still tinged with a little sadness but on the whole the feelings are happy to have had him as a friend.

I had him cremated too and his ashes are still with me, Thanks for the idea of having the ashes buried with you, I think I will do the same now too :A

Our beloved Molly is never far from our thoughts.
It is very 'strange' at home, when we get up there is no tail wagging to greet us. Hubby mentioned that he finds the pain more bareable now, he can talk about her with out crying and getting upset, whereas i still burst into tears when anyone mentions her. I miss her more than i could ever have imagine.
The freedom of not having to rush home when i go out is painful (if that makes any sense) before i always had to make sure i was back for Molly but now there is nothing to rush home for.

I have re-read the poems that have been posted on here and they are beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who took the time and trouble to post replies and if we have managed to help anyone else in the same situation then i'm glad.

Hi, I hope you're still reading this thread after your last post! We lost our beloved GSD 10 years ago, and he was such a beauty, everyone loved him, even my parents who aren't doggy people. So I do know how you feel, GSD's are a fantastic breed.

Max used to lay under the TV, and we looked at our empty space for a long time, but eventually got a patterdale terrier (not wanting anything like Max so we couldn't compare them). He's nine now and has been soooo much trouble for a small dog!!

We will NEVER forget Max, we still talk about him, his pics still framed on the fire place, and even though we've moved 4 times, I still have his collar and lead.

We have a 3 year old field spaniel aswell, but my DH has finally started talking about getting another GSD.

The point i'd like to make is, you will know when you're ready to get another dog, none will ever replace Molly, she will always be with you, but having a puppy around is a great diversion of your attention, especially for the children. Suddenly not having a dog in the house leaves such a massive gap, I don't regret getting my terrier one bit, and he's his own special character. Thinking of you and your family in this horrible time xxxxxx
