Does anyone know if there are any incentives (grants) for people to get this done to their homes?
I and Mrs Ginge both work full time so I guess in Bliars britain we will be entitled to zero!!
I honestly think I would be better off if I went on the doll!!

Hi Ginge,
I hope that you don't mind but I'm going to move this over to the In My Home board, where hopefully you'll get some advice.

Does anyone know if cavity wall insulation acts as sound insulation?
I live in a late 80's timber framed end of terrace house, and you can hear everything going on outside. Would this help?
Thanks

Even if you do not get a grant I would have it installed; 7 years ago I managed to get an energy saving grant and each year I have saved a third on my gas bill which means the cavity wall insulation has paid for its self.0

We too work full-time in fairly well paid jobs and enquired about this this year. Got a quote and it costed us £115 for 3 bed terrace (all in). Hope it will perform in winter and be alot warmer.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

Try London Energy - I got it done earlier this year and London Energy were doing the best grant available at the time.

The government is keen for homeowners to insulate their homes, but cavity walls were built as a barrier against penetrating dampness.[/font]
Seems it`s not a good idea to tamper with cavity walls - see here for details

Wall tie corrosion  that's scary hairy.
I looked at having this done a while back but couldn't (easily) due to the aluminium cladding on our new house which was built in the early 70's.
Glad we didnt have it done nowthanks for the info.
