For those of you that dont know, I had a rather nasty time in my local Boots a while back, when I was treated like a shoplifter for buying the foundation free conceler offer three times, and a senior customer service manager was put on the case. I did get a little compensation for my stress, but not as much as if I hadnt posted on here. In the e-mail from him he quoted two things I had wrote on here, saying 'you wrote on line bla bla', so we do know for sure this site is monitored. My local stores treat you like a leper for having coupons, so just imagine if you tried a GWP without the products. I did get both of those GWP a couple of days ago, a bargain I feel as the products were 3 4 2 as well.
  • I do agree with Passion8, I did the same and got 2 gwp's and told everyone then (kindly) got advised about my mistake which with the help of other MSE's I changed promptly so not to encourage my bad behaviour.

If it wasnt for MSE I would have spent a fortune in boots anyway but now I make sure I make the most of what I do get, I think Im being savvy!
Will not spend more money:naughty:, but will spend more time looking for that great bargain!

Thanks for posting that rosy. It's a timely reminder for any posters that aren't aware of what happened to you, (which I'm still appalled by) and that Boots are, in fact, monitoring these threads.

If someone puts a product, whatever you call it, in their basket, takes it to the till and SA puts it through as free without a query then that is above board. It is totally the responsibility of the sales assistant/store to stop that purchase if they want to.

I have only been bootsing for a short time and haven't got a free GWP yet but if i did then i don't see any wrong. Boots is not a small company, they are clever and know that by offering a GWP we will buy something we may not otherwise. If we don't buy the right product and it still goes through free then its their error, just the same in Tesco when they misprice a product, you wouldn't not buy something if it was scanned as 0.00 would you?

Well, for these of us that are lucky enough to have both the £5 off any Roc product voucher plus find the Roc GWP in the store, remember that Roc skincare products are included in the current 342 offer. So get your three Roc products, be charged for two, use your £5 off voucher and get the Roc GWP while you're there. It can work out as nearly 341 if you make a point of getting cheaper items and this would be all fair, square and above board, methinks.

Or get 342 on any of the skincare products that are on offer and pick up the GWP for that brand of product as well, given that you're paying for two and there's no current minimum spend to get the out of date GWPs. I don't think anyone would argue that this isn't a pretty good deal either? There's no need to go into the greyer areas to get a bargain, remember.

So if they are monitoring these threads so closely, then they will stop the GWP going through free then... if they wanted to.

I wouldn't put a gwp in my basket without the relevant purchase. The wording's quite clear, Gift With Purchase.

This whole area is an area that has made some posters feel so uncomfortable, that they've given up posting. But it's also an area that should be made clearer.

For the younger and more vulnerable posters.

Does anyone know what the purchase requirement is to get the Roc GWP? I just went to Boots and there was no sign about the minimum purchase, and nothing listed on the bag itself. I bought a pack of £5.99 Roc face wipes as part of my 3 for 2 (the others being Olay), and I took a gwp bag, too. I figured £5.99 was too low, but since no price was listed, maybe. The bag beeped at the till and the cashier didn't know what the minimum purchase was, either, so I left it. I might go back and get more Roc (using my £5 off coupon!) if the minimum purchase isn't too bad. I also have one more set of Olay coupons that I could use in conjunction.

Otherwise, a good shopping day! (thanks hotpot for the tip on the Olay hand cream!).

    Shop 1
Olay FF Total Effects hand cream - £6.49
    Olay facial cleanser - £4.49
    Roc face wipes - £5.99
    Boujouis tweezers - £2.95
Trevor Sorbie Shampoo and Condition - 2 for £7

    Handed over:
Total effects coupon - £5 off
Free Olay daily facials with Total Effects - £4.49 off
3 for 2 skincare - till took £4.49 off for cheapest item (which was Olay cleanser)
£2 off till spit for tweezers
    free TS conditioner with shampoo
100 points when you buy TS product
    Total to pay: £6.45
    Points: 144

    Shop 2
Olay FF Total Effects hand cream - £6.49
    Olay facial cleanser - £4.49
    Olay facial cleanser - £4.49
    Boujouis sharpener - £1.95

    Handed over:
Total effects coupon - £5 off
Free Olay daily facials with Total Effects - £4.49 off
    3 for 2 skincare - till took £4.49 off
£2 off till spit for sharpener
    Total to pay: £1.49
    Points: 4

Had time to kill before my facial, so wandered over to the smaller Boots two blocks away.

    Shop 3
    2 mini photo albums BOGOF - £1.49
    Boujouis sharpener - £1.95
    anti-bacterial hand wipes - .99

    Handed over:
200 points on photo albums (from the ACM)
£2 off till spit for sharpener
    Total to pay: £2.48
    Points: 208

The ACM didn't give me anymore 200 points coupons, or I would've gone back for more albums! I'll have to try later. :)
