    I know!

All I'm trying to do is make the op understand that infact their town isn't small enough for any supermarket member of staff to personally know everyone and their age. I know I don't know the town but it's just not possible.

  • Zoelouise88, although i've decided not to post anymore on this topic because it's starting to turn into a free-for-all, I can't help but wondering if your trying to bump up your post count here eg. leaving 3 posts within 60 seconds of each other?

    ^^^^^^^

Ps. Traffic Cops tonight was pretty good, 14 year olds in Hull seem to be becoming more stylish with a 300hp Jag XJS. What ever happened to the good old days of a Micra? ;) Edit: Quote of the night "today, chasing kids in stolen cars is not approved of." Oh dear.

I only caught half of it, was making music at the time (literally, before the euphamism police arrive) seen an abandoned car and jakey kids hanging about claiming to know nothing, and a kid on a bike claiming to not know the names of them, or where any of his friends lived, to be honest i'd rather Train Cops was on.

    P.s you clearly have a point ^^^^^^

Yeah, if someone refused us a drink we'd just "set about them":D and not bother arguing about their right to refuse the sale. (Even if they are shown 100 ID's)

My local tesco does remember me. Only because Im very good looking and quite chirpy with the cashiers. However even my looks are forgotten in the larger tesco store.

However I agree some people are easily remembered no matter how big the town population. Say, someone is really fat or is missing a nose etc...then people will remember you no matter what.

Who knows why zealous is easy to remember.......lol.....

i went in with my partner to do our weekly shop and we decided to get a bottle of drink but we got to the tills and they asked me for i.d which i dont have (they know im over 18 and have served me b4) , my partner was paying 4 the shopping so i told them he was the one buyin it so he showed them his i.d and they refused to serve him just because i never had i.d, this is so stupid as what would they do if someone took there kids shopping surly they cant ask the kids for i.d apparenlty its a new policy to ask anyone who is at the till at the time of purchasing alcohol to provide i.d

think i will shop at asda from now on!
went in there on the weekend and there was a group of boys around 18ish and aloud of girls who you could see were not even 16 and the assistant didnt even ask them for id just because they were mates.

i dont know what the staff must think of me as they now wont even serve me fags so obviously think im under 16 (im there with a 2yr old baby and a 29 yr old partner :rotfl: ) when they refused me i got a few funny looks from the other customers.

    - If you try and buy drink and are over 18, but get IDed and you don't have any on you, we must refuse (obviously). If someone you are with then produces ID then we must also refuse, as it is obvious the booze is being bought for/by the person without ID.
what so if my dads buyin alcohol when shopping with my sister and she doesnt have id but he does and shows it that means hes buying it for her? no

    - I don't remember everyone that walks through my till and it's unreasonable to expect any cashier to.
my tesco is tiny and its all local people who work there i would understand if it was a big one but it isnt, infact most of the staff life locally to me

    quote][/quote]

she KNEW i was over 18 and had served me drink many times before so why on this occasion would she not? i say she was just having a bad day, if we had gone in and just brought drink then fair enough i would have been fine with her refusing my oh but we were not we were doing a family food shop with my son, which is why i was so wound up.

that is the thing they wouldnt have been breaking the law my oh showed id saying he was 29 so selling to him wouldnt have got them a fine.

the point in the first place was they refused to sell to my oh even though he showed id saying he was 29 just because he was with me, and dont saying they have to id all people at the till as that is rubbish i rang tescos and they have said as long as the person paying shows id then they can serve them no matter who else they are with.

so looks like i was in the right to moan as she obviously was just being a cow.

well i rang 'Tesco customer services' explained the situation and they agreed the assitant was able to serve my oh has he had proof he was over 18, they even apoligised to me.

they never thought they were selling to a minor they knew my oh who was 29 was buying it but refused to as i was with him and never had id.

anyway are you some kind of expert??

here are my first lot of post as i have have said this particular sales assistant does know me and lives locally to me, obviously not every assistant is going to know every customer. do you understand now how it is possible that this one sales assitant does know me and does know how old i am. obviously i am not saying she knows every customer but it is possible for a cashier to know some or even most of the custmoers personally
