So pleased you had a good break Francophile the thread have been very quiet over the last couple of days, must be droopsnout skiing in the UK.

Weather out here is absolutely beautiful. Been sunbathing on our patio today, and looks like a good forecast for the lat 10 days.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Glad you had a good time francophile.

We've been sunning ourselves too, although there was a chilly wind, but on our little covered patio we were fine!

Good to see you're all working on your tans ! I'm 15 miles from Doncaster and still have 3 inches of snow on the decking - and the temperature is brrrrrrr
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • The weather is slowly improving here in Ireland thank goodness. Still some snow around but at least it's stopped falling but not a chance of sunbathing. Even in summer that's a long shot. We're heading over to the house in France in less than 3 weeks and I'm hoping we get a little sunshine there.

  • Only five more sleeps and we will be SKIing in Mexico. I cannot wait, just hope I recognise the sun when I see it!!
Away with the fairies.... Back soon
  • Not much SKI-ing for us this year as we have had to buy a new boiler for our UK house, our Spanish house needs the roof terrace re-surfacing (the recent heavy snow/rain ended up in the living room) and our son has had his hours cut to only eight a week at work so can't afford to contribute financially to the UK house other than pay a few bills.

    But.....January 2010 when I get my Pension....just you wait....I'll be on JetSKIs!

  • Glad this thread is showing signs of life again. SDW - I thought you were going to Pembrokeshire in the summer, is that now shelved? Its been great here in Kent all week and low and behold, tonight it was snowing heavens hard again but it has now turned to rain - thank goodness. Donny-gal, I am jealous of the sunshine, the effects of Tenerife have long worn off.

  • Oh yes, the Pembrokeshire trip is still on, but as it's a house exchange and we will be in the UK anyway, I don't really class it as SKI-ing as it shouldn't cost any more than staying in our UK house.

Well I am breaking it gently to DH of our ski-ing plans for the summer;) , 8 days in East Anglia over Easter, followed by a weekend in North Lincolnshire on the way home. East coat for the May Day weekend, East coast for Spring Bank Week, Leicestershire, Kent, on the way down to France, and then West London for a weekend on the way back, and York the following weekend. Maybe Gloucestershire the following weekend, depends on where DS will be that weekend, and then 2 weeks around the UK with friends in the 'van, how far depends on their work situation between now and then:rolleyes: . Leading up to us organising our own celebratory weekeend for DH's 60th. We will be coming back out here in September for the rest :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Isn't it awful, but after 30-40 years in manufacturing industry and its ups and downs, we don't have the worry of being made redundant and it feels good.

  • Yes, after being made redundant no fewer than 5 times in the 1990s, DH can really empathise with all the poor folks losing their jobs now, and we're both glad we're no longer in that game.

At present we're planning to go away in 2 months' time. The English Democrats' Spring Conference this year is at the Hilton, Portsmouth (last year it was near Heathrow) and the weekend includes a St George's Day dinner. As we're in that part of the country we thought we'd go on and spend some time in and around the New Forest, and DH has found an absolutely gorgeous place near Fordingbridge where we're planning to stay the rest of the week.

As he goes in on Tuesday for further knee surgery on Wednesday, this gives a couple of months to get over all this and be mobile again. And it will be spring, and after all these weeks we'll be ready for it.

Must get booked at the Portsmouth Hilton for the weekend conference, DH has already booked us from Sunday night!!
