We are leaving later today on our second holiday of the year. The first was in April, to the west of Scotland including 3 nights on the isle of Mull.
A year ago today I'm reminded on Facebook, we were on our way back through Germany into France. We'd spent a couple of nights at Friedrichshaven on Bodensee (Lake Constance) after staying at Passau in Bavaria.
We're catching the overnight ferry from Harwich - Hook of Holland, driving to the Harz mountains in Germany, a historic old town called Wernigerode. They have a twice-weekly market in the town square by the hotel we're staying in. I want to go to the market and buy things for a picnic in the beautiful scenery. I hope to be able to practise my German!
I'm near the top of the waiting list for hip surgery, revision of R hip replacement from 1987, should be soon after we get back. Admissions have the dates we'll be away.
I've signed up for an OU course starting October, modern languages. So I'll be a mature student again! The OU is far from cheap but as the philosophy of this group says, we're spending it now rather than later.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

We have a good ski planned. DIL is travelling in the first week of August so we are on duty in the USA that week, expensive school holiday flights!
However, a bit of research found us a tour of the South, from New Orleans via Atlanta, Shenandoah and even Graceland to Orlanda, which isn't too far from our beloved Tampa.
We fly to Manchester via Philadelphia, so we will just take the final leg a fortnight later than the rest of the tour. No extra charge this time!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

We are thinking of buying a chalet,in Wales as a holiday home, still exploring this option. Watch this space!
We finally bought the YetiThe Roomster has been a brilliant car, but is now ten years old, so we decided to change it. Although my husband did not like the Yeti he test drove before, the different model he drove today was so different. I did not drive it, but fell in love with it as soon as I sat in the driver's seat
They gave us more than we expected for the Roomster on part ex. We collect the Yeti on Thursday(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I have the yeti, the L&K model and I absolutely love the car. The one I have is permanent 4 wheel drive and petrol. Had it from new and am planning on keeping it as long as possible but am quietly saving for a driverless car, when they are reliable0

My husband would have liked the 4WD, but the only one they had was too expensive. Ours is diesel. We have had diesel cars for decades, as we keep our cars for years and the diesel engines will do a lot more miles. Our Seat Alhambra did almost a quarter of a million!
He's happy however with the model we have, the 2.0 diesel. Insurance the same as the Roomster. It's this model - and that colour - the only thing we don't like!

I was looking for this thread last week. You did better than I, SDW,
I wonder where all the ski-ers have gone.
We went to the USA in January, DIL had to travel do we helped with the gorgeous boys. Next trip is to Thailand in April, a tour and stay, which is ideal. It's for my big birthday.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
