Actually, you can! They just prefer to lie and say you can't!
  • I am finally motivated to exorcise an opinion formed over the previous months about the great guru " mobilejunkie ". Well, he certainly has experience, and he has posted far and wide, but I simply must say this: Mobilejunkie, I am sick and tired of your arrogant and frequently abrasiveness (read 'rude') .
Your advice, whilst often good enough is NOT the first and last word, is frequently over stated and heavy handed. Although drawn only from personal experience it reads as a text book tried-and-tested formula i.e do this or else.
There are alternatives. Where? Simply follow good practice and common sense. The law requires ONLY this. Write to the correct address, keep a cool head and you're usually covered.
Sorry, but I'm fed up with this character's pompous know it all attitude. Give advice friend but do it with patience and good grace - ALWAYS

ooer, a scathing attack on a veteran cashbacker...

...I eagerly await a slow and brutal conclusion :D

On a serious note, I'm sure there are some who agree with your sentiments, but I'm sure you appreciate it must get incredibly tedious responding to the same questions repeatedly. In any case, for a watered down version of mobilejunkie, you could always fling a question in the direction of "Quentin". :p

I'm not quite sure why there isn't a definitive and stickied "cashback FAQ" which could effortlessly answer queries across the spectrum, from preparatory work prior to initiating a cashback deal to the inevitable LBAs/MCOLs .

There is - but most people can't be bothered to seek it out. Especially those who actually believe "common sense" is sufficient to see them through. Those who have actually studied (or been subjected to for that matter!) English law know that common sense isn't listed in the index of the various tomes. The hundreds on here who have fallen foul of cashback contracts should also by now realise the same. The only thing "common sense" would testify to is that dealers obviously must rely on the fact that most people will not get all their cashbacks or the deals themselves will drive the business into insolvency (which is exactly what has happened to virtually every small cashback dealer in the last 12 months, thanks to the comprehensive advice on this forum and intereference by the networks for their own ends). As far as English law is concerned, caveat emptor and not "common sense" - whatever that may be - prevails.

As always, people can make their own judgements.
