Calcold contains Diphenhydramine which is mentioned in the RSPGB guidance in the list of "non-prescription cough and cold medicines that should not be used in children younger than 2 years" (well almost a direct quote)
EDIT - For people coming in at page 9 - RSPGB was from one of my earlier posts (royal pharmaceutical society of great britain)£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

The bad news is that to teach adults in whatever scenario (through adult education, as a qualified adult trainer, at a Further Education college) you have to either have lots of experience in a subject, OR a qualification at least 1 level above what you want to teach. As cooking is only my 'hobby', it doesn't count for anything, so I wouldn't be able to get the qualification and have cookery as my specialist area. This was disappointing as it was the whole reason I thought of doing it - combine cooking with wanting to teach and share my 'lurve' of food!
What do you want - do you want a qualification in teaching cooking? Or do you want to teach cooking with a teaching qualification?
The reason I ask, is that once you have the teaching qualification, the experience and knowledge of the subject become less important. I'm sure you've read the same stories on here as I have about trainers being "thrown to the wolves" with only a marginal knowledge of what they were teaching.
Also, as you've seen, some people use their appearances on certain TV programmes as their sole justification for teaching cooking. If they can do that, then you can also do that alongside an actual teaching qualification.
You will be sharing your love of cooking, but using the skills you have in order to pass that on better."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

That's an unfair generalisation - SOME parents MAY do that, but most parents use it correctly, for the intended purpose.
Most is not good enough.

How about teaching cookery in a night school, mY friend did that. And she did not need any teaching qualifications. And she was paid around 18.00 an to do it. it would be a step on the ladder.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

did she not need a qualification in cooking though smashed? I think night school usually care more about that than a teaching qualification, at least they do up here anyway.Mortgage OP 2026 £450/2000

I didn't say, or even imply, that it WAS good enough - I merely stated that it was an unfair generalisation to say that parents are misusing these medicines. Most is not good enough.
