All medication marketed to children under 2 is being withdrawn.

They should be given small doses of standard paracetamol or a very simple cough syrup.

It says most of it in the link above, the rest comes directly from GPs I work with.

It seems to be based on the fact that some children have been given too much of the medicines in question, or parents have given 2 different medicines not realising that they contain the same ingredient.

There doesn't seem to be anything saying that they are actually harmful to under 2s in the correct doses (which is what we were told at the pharmacy yesterday ).

I've never heard of any other children's meds for under 2s but I'm not going to argue.

There's also all manner of mixes and colourings in them and it's better for their ickle bodies to just deal with pure (as possible!) medication.

It's unfortunate that parents have been overusing them for every sniffle when children need to suffer through some of it to improve their immune system, which makes them less likely to suffer from things like asthma in the future.

    Keren,
    Brilliant!
I for one would take your media course (could use it right now in fact)
so why not do it? Then, you could maybe take some kind of course on cooking (meet me in France for Cordon Bleu???) then you could do that!
    Whadda ya think??

That's an unfair generalisation - SOME parents MAY do that, but most parents use it correctly, for the intended purpose.

And I really have to take issue with the fact that you believe a baby should suffer when there is a safe way to ease their pain!!

I meant some sorry my typing is sloppy today. As usual the few spoil things for the many.

I don't believe they should suffer, they should have paracetamol or ibruphen not the mixed sugar laden rubbish that some shops sell as medicine though.
