    Just had to do a last minute dash to nursery to pay Natasha's fees for April, because I'd set the standing order up wrong. Honestly, you wouldn't think I worked for a bank, would you... :o

    I'm still not sure if she will be well enough to go tomorrow or not - her eyes are still a little bit crusty and she keeps getting headache. I was really hoping to be able to spend tomorrow just with Ryan, so I hope she improves more overnight.

    BTW, has anyone heard that Medised/Calpol night is being banned for the under 2s? They wouldn't let us buy any yesterday.

    I'm back.

    The bad news is that to teach adults in whatever scenario (through adult education, as a qualified adult trainer, at a Further Education college) you have to either have lots of experience in a subject, OR a qualification at least 1 level above what you want to teach. As cooking is only my 'hobby', it doesn't count for anything, so I wouldn't be able to get the qualification and have cookery as my specialist area. This was disappointing as it was the whole reason I thought of doing it - combine cooking with wanting to teach and share my 'lurve' of food!

    However, the good news is that it seems I have lots of other choices that I could specialise in and then use in some way. They would be Public Relations ie media handling, working with the media, some kind of communications work generally such as teaching how to write CV's or perhaps drama, drama therapy in the community (I have a degree in drama), or, computer courses as I've got tonnes of experience in working with computers as a user, which means I could do teaching people how to use computers/the internet/how to design web sites/how to do Powerpoint and that kind of stuff.

    I was interviewed by the course tutor and asked just a few questions about why I wanted to teach adults and now my form gets a 'yea' or a 'nay' from the course manager as to whether I'll be offered a place. It is all very 'professional' these days - the days of some arty farty hippy showing you how to make pots at night class are well and truly gone!!

    I'd never really thought past just cooking at night school, but if I did do the course and then did all the follow on courses over the next couple of years, I could end up as a qualified teacher of adults - the equivalent of a PGCE for teachers in schools. I could work as a lecturer at an FE college and do all the training in my spare time!

    So, I need to decide - do I want to teach cooking? Which would mean I couldn't do the course, or, do I want to learn to teach generally and use my 15 years in PR and the media as my specialist area. If I'm never going to return to that field work wise (because I'm sick of it) then maybe I can pass on my experience and skills to those wanting to use it as part of their jobs. I've wanted to do the PGCE course loads of times over the years but never had the financial security to take a year off work to get it.

    There's a lot of money to be made out there teaching companies how to manage the media..........and media studies is a very, very popular subject these days.....

    There's certainly money in media if you can keep one step ahead of it in terms of technology.

    None at all :confused::confused:

    If *they* are saying that we are not allowed to administer pain relief to our own children incase they overdose then I have to say I am EXTREEMLY offended at the suggestion that I am a chavtatic mother!!!

    I'm sorry but my (and Im sure others) child would NOT have gone without pain meds when she was under two.

    Disgraceful!!

    This is the assumption I made skint but Gemmzie implied that are all meds being withdrawn due to possible overdosing :confused:

    Your link makes much more sense :D
