the ones £50 & under just aren't going to give you decent bread
I disagree. We have an old Hinari and it makes good bread. I guess it cost under £50 when new however we bought it cheap, 2nd hand at a car boot sale. It's on just now so looking forward to some nice bread later. It is starting to squeak occasionally when kneading though so will need to check that out.0 -
Our Tesco breadmaker has just broken :. We use it every day so need to get a new one asap.
When we bought the tesco one it was on offer and we bought it to see whether we would use it. Now we know it is going to get used I don't mind paying a bit more. Although I have never had any complaints about the Tesco one.
Many thanksLife may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -
I honestly don't think there's much difference between what they do. What they all do the same thing: mixing, proving and baking if you want it to. The only variable is reliability and there's not much likelihood of forum posters having been owners of more than one or two, I reckon and the prices vary wildly. Perhaps a bit of research somewhere like "Which" might be more useful to you.
I bough one second-hand in a charity shop for thirty quid not long ago and I'm absolutely delighted with it. It's a Team International "Rapido" with the usual half a dozen-odd different bread and three crust settings. It's truly a thing of wonder.0 -

Russell Hobbs Breadman great easy programming and laminated recipe cards BUT the pan was never fully secure in the latches and would work free, as if it would take off!!! Plastic build.
Kenwood BM 350 great as pan locks in place so secure. Very noisy and harder to program. (confusing display and recipe booklet) Metal robust build.
Got both on great clearance deals. (£19.49 Kenwood, £25? Russell Hobbs)0 -

Hiya
The two most recommended breadmakers by our posters are Morphy Richards and Panasonic.
You may be able to find another make with a good review in our Breadmaker Collection (link is below). Look under "B" and have a browse.

Good luck.

We're using a Tesco one that we were gifted on freecycle. The recipe book that came with it didn't produce one good loaf (hence the reason its original owners got rid) but once we found a generic breadmaker recipe on the internet there's been no looking back. If this one breaks, I think we'll simply replace it with the same model as its cheap as chips and does the job.
Lots of people seem to recommend the panasonic but its quite pricey.

I have just bought the one that Lidl sells (Silvercrest I think). It has two paddles (rather than the one my cheapy one that I was using). I am still getting used to it but results so far are promising. It makes a better shaped loaf - long rather than tall.Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100
