sorry, wasn't meaning to worry you :o I was just keeping myself right, I don't think anyone minds the odd off-topic post :)

a lot of the tips & tricks & queries are interchangeable between the two machines, I think we need the title of the Panny thread changing to include the Kenwood now ;)

I've only used the personalised setting once so far & that was when I accidentally switched off in the middle of a programme, so I reprogrammed it to start from where it left off, but I can't remember how I did now though

    it's a great machine, I love mine :D

let me know how the jam making goes, I've not tried that

Yes, its awesome. I am still a bit nervous of messing about with it too much, but i am getting braver by the day. So glad I took your advice on the kenwood! Will poss make jam tonight, if I have time. I hope it turns out. Looking forward to doing another type of loaf too. ts my fave kitchen gadget ever. I get a bit too excited I think:rotfl:

    hi skyelark :)

I'm actually replying to your post over on the Panasonic thread, but don't want to get my knuckles rapped for hijacking it for our Kenwood purposes ;)

for a bit of variety you can use Panny recipes in the Kenwood, but remember to put the ingredients in in the order Kenwood recommend ... Panasonic recipes

Carrs a flour manufacturer's site with some really interesting recipes :) including Wholemeal for various different machines (not the latest models though) which shows how different machines like different proportions of ingredients

& here's a nice seeded loaf recipe that I like better than any in the manuals

    PoshPaws' Seeded Bread (adaptation)
    1/2 pint water
8oz malty flour of your choice
    8oz strong plain flour
    1 Tablespoon oil
    3 Tablespoons rolled oats
    1 + 1/2 teaspoons honey
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 + 1/4 teaspoons yeast
1 Tablespoon of seeds of your choice (or more, I sometimes use 6 or 7 :D)

I've tried this on a seeded setting, medium loaf size, in a Morphy richards, a Panny & a Kenwood & it's worked well in them all, thanks PoshPaws :T

have you used any of the personalised programmes yet?

the only bread I miss from the Panny is the Italian bake, I'd like to programme my Kenwood to do it, but I suspect that'll involve sitting beside a Panny for 3 & a half hours noting down what it's doing & for how long!

That is great thanks. would love to get some ongoing/support tips from you and other users, but dont know where to post! dont want to start a new thread in case there is a relevent one already that I cant find!
Loving the BM¬ Made pizza dough, it was awesome. Made the base very light and airy, loved it.
Keep in touch with your fab hints and tips:T:)

I'm never quite sure where to post about the Kenwood
If I pick up on a query in a thread I'll answer it there, but it would be nice to have all the posts together where they're easier to find

the Panasonic & Morphy Richard machines have dedicated threads, I think we could be doing with one for the Kenwood now that quite a few people are using one or want to buy one

I'll PM a board guide & ask about it :)

I thought I should mark a year of buying no bread with this post :)

I can't recall the exact date but in the middle of October last year I bought the then bargain Argos model for £24 and since then with occasional failures along the way I've converted home to eating only homemade bread. Not that I think there's much perception of difference (beyond me) but the pleasure of throwing in the ingredients and getting bread out eventually has proved very popular with friends who are always pleased to be given a homemade loaf - and their kids wolf it down!

Wonder if I've saved much ££?

I am the same. got my kenwood 450 a few weeks ago and I love it. Don't buy shop bread anymore. I haven't worked out price difference, but would be interesting to know :)

  • There seems to be a plethora of savvy cooks on here - so I thought I would cast a net for recommendations.

I am wanting to buy a cheapish bread makers (no more than £50). Combination of wanting to avoid mass factory produced abominations in Tesco, and loving the smell in Greggs first thing.

So any thoughts? I would prefer one that can switch on during the nights so I can wake up to the smell of bread first thing.

Mine's a Morphy Richards, very similar to this one but an older model.
