Which is the best home breadmaker?

I have the argos one and i totally agree with the ambient temp thingy. I have mine in my utility room which is always pretty warm due to the tumble dryer and have beautiful bread every time i put it on.
I tend to use bread mixes as I'm lazy, but they all turn out really well. Especially if they are on special offer like they so often are!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Have you tried waiting for the loaf to cool before taking it out? Seems easier that way, my breadmaker comes with a little wire with a hook at the end to remove the paddle.[/QUOTE]
Hello Sui_Generis Tried that too, It didn't come with anything to help get the paddle out as far as I know (it was second hand) have eaten the last few slices I have made with my MR breadmaker today and it was so bad I had to throw the crust away in fear of breaking one of my teeth on it!
Have taken a chance and ordered a new one! on Amazon they have a Panasonic BM on offer for £67.84 Should be hear by Monday:jCan't wait to try it out.0 -

I'm sure it will be excellent. I have to say I've bought the Argos one as an experiment and after 4 months I think its a success so wouldn't hesitate to buy a more expensive one in the near future.
Indeed we passed our old bakery (an independent) the other day and as they saw me I felt obliged to go in and buy a loaf (1st in 4 months) but the next day was rather pleased to be told that it "wasn't as nice as our home made bread"!0 -

Hi cupcake, I am using the light crust setting but it still comes out like a rock at the bottom:(
I'm on my 2nd MR now, my 1st I got 2nd hand but it started playing up didn't mind as it was nearly 10 years old
Good luck with it
Thanks, my MR makes lovely rolls though so I can't complain, It's been great fun trying out all the receipes. I liked the Hovis granary bread mix the best it was really yummy:T0 -

My new Pannasonic BM arrived on Saturday, made my first basic white loaf on Sunday and Wow! The bread it's lovely and light, no hard crust or paddle stuck in it. Well impressed so far.0

I bought the Anthony Worrall Thompson bread maker and absolutely love it. I don't think I've ever had a bad loaf. The biggest loaf is 1.25 kg.
Wouldn't swap it for the world.
hiya canspendnomore
can i ask please when the load of 1.25 kg is done how many say normal slices would you get out of it ?
im really saving at the moment how much money to what i can afford to buy guess its going to be a decision on how soon i want one to how much i need to save for it, get a cheaper one and get it quickly or will a more expensive one be better in the long run

I've been using our Morphy Richards one a lot but it just doesn't do big enough loaves (think the large size is 1 1/2 lbs). Can anyone recommend a good one with more capacity please?
Many thanks.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
I have a Panasonic SD-253 and it is fantastic, got it seven years ago from our wedding list.
I am sure they have done a more up to date one, but it was and still is I gather a good brand for bread makers
