Hi,
I had bought the Panasonic SD254 2 weeks ago, after 3 loafs it started making a loud squeaking noise when kneeding the bread, so I sent it back for an exchange thinking this was not normal. I have just recieved the second one & it is doing the exact same, Is this normal for Panasonic then?. If it is not normal I will take it back & buy another make as I am very disappointed with having 2 machines doing the same thing.
Thanks

Mine squeaks - I've put it down to the dough being quite stiff at the beginning as it seems to calm down after about five minutes kneading.

I've just bought the SD255 from Debenahams having struggled to find anywhere that had them in stock. My old cookworks machine is heading for Freecyle.
I'm really keen on the idea of being able to add raisins etc, I love fruit bread but I'm out of the house for 12 hours a day so can only make bread overnight - the idea of getting up at 4am to put raisins in has never really appealed to me!
Thanks for all the recommendations, can some kind soul point me in the direction of a recipe thread?Piglet

I couldn't find an SD255 for love nor money a couple of weeks ago (apparently there is a long lead time of them) so I settled for the 254 instead.
I make the fruit bread from the Panasonic cook book and it's lovely. However you cannot put this on timer overnight as the ingredients contain milk and eggs and you cannot leave these to rest in the machine. What about making the fruit loaves at the weekend and using the timer function for regular loaves during the week?
It's best to use the recipies from the Panasonic cook book to start with (they are specifically tried and tested to suit the machine).0 -
N9eav, I got my from Ebay, for £58 plus postage - have you tried looking on there??
I have looked, most seemed recon ones. I still have not bought one, got distracted with another project. Will resume my deliberations this weekend.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Thanks for that Jenny, I hadn't thought about the milk aspect....ahh well, DH is home off and on during the day so I'll have to train him to fill it and put it on when he's home so it will finish when one of us is home in the evening.
The first loaf cooked overnight was lovely, it was just plain white which isn't my favourite -I'm off out tomorrow for some wholemeal flour. OH has eaten the majority of the loaf today though, so it can't be too bad!Piglet

Just a question about cost.
If a crusty 800g loaf costs £1.09 in the supermarket. How much do the ingredients cost for a loaf in the machine?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
