OS Daily April Fools day 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Most font's seem exactly the same but have different names?
Anyway Good morning. Man if the clocks had not moved this would be just after 5am....
The Birthday celebrations went well yesterday, but man were they costly, relatively speaking. I arrived at the zoo with 7 x 14 year olds. But they would not let them in without an adult. How stupid is that? They can go to the swimming pool, swim in the sea and a whole number of other things without an adult but the zoo.... no . SO I had to pay for me and the missus and we did not want to go to the zoo. I wanted to go off in to the town for a coffee. Anyway we saw the zoo for a bit and then left. The kids were fine and met us in the town later.
Then we hit KFC for some large buckets of fried chicken and everyone had a good time. I am about £70 poorer, but I had decided not to be Scrooge like normal and let my daughter have fun without me moaning about cost.
That was surprising as the shock of finding that Heating oil had risen to 52p a litre almost sent me over the edge!!!!!!!!! 52p. That's almost £100 a month to heat ,cook and hot water! I am going to seriously look in to wind turbines. I have the space and have been thinking about it for some time... Oil is getting stupid.
Looks like wind and wet again, although it did brighten up yesterday. Work at 11, so a few jobs to do and then shirt and tie and off to the office.
Have a nice day

Good morning N9eav and all who cross/follow,
after yesterdays lovely sunny afternoon the weather seems to have backtracked and it`s nasty out there again.
Hopefully later will be nice once again though.
I confess to not having read any of yesterdays thread after posting in the morning so hopefully i`ll be able to play catch up now whilst it`s quiet.
((((HUGS)))) for Smoky and anyone else who might need one today.
I forgot to set the timer on the breadmaker last night before going to bed so there was no lovely smell when i woke up today, i`ve sorted it now and all being well it should just be finishing baking as i arrive home from w**k so i`ll get my bread aroma/fix later
Off to do some w**k now guys
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning N9eav and Sunnyday, and all who follow/cross.
Managed to get a pack of laminate flooring off freecycle yesterday - the first time ive been first with the email, so we very excitedly set of to collect it and its wonderful, just need to find someone who can fit it, because i dont want to make a mess of it!!! Im in no hurry as i do have some lino down, its just not very good, and this laminate is special waterproof stuff as well, so perfect for my little toilet. I love this freecycle! (ive given before, never received).
Today, i have 2 extra children here, and although it rained overnight, i am hoping that it will be dry so they can go out and play.
Nothing much planned today, i did do some baking yesterday, made chicken pie for dinner, a leak pie for the freezer, plus a leek and smoked cheese pie (saw it on Something for the Weekend a few weeks ago, looks and smells lovely, but not tried it yet) also some weetabix brownies and shortbread. Today i would like to try those lemonade scones someone posted, will let you know how i get on!
kyle - hope DS is back eating and his levels are still ok (and the rest of you are getting better too!)

Wet and windy here too today, anyone want to volunteer to take the dog outI have loads of washing to dry, and was at work yesterday, so missed the sunshine and will have to use the TD today.
Weigh in at slimming class today, and am sure I have put weight on, just not sure how much. Still, the fish and chips, takeaways and chocolate were worth itWe usually have an Indian delivered on Saturday night, but this week tried a curry from Asda, and it was lovely, and about 1/4 of the price, so very moneysaving :T
Pasta for lunch, and chilli for tea, am having low fat garlic bread to try to minimise the damage :rotfl:
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Got some chicken thighs and drumsticks out of the freezer which I will roast with mash the rest of yesterdays cauli/brocoli cheese sprouts and peas for tea.
My impossible pie ( in a loaf tin) turned out great, its delicious (thanks Aussie) OH has taken a big chunk to work, it would be nice with custard, might do that for pudding tonight.
Did an online shop yesterday, just a few bits to take to Devon with us, and have ordered a delivery for the day we get back, so all organised there.
Month end accounts at work today, the best job of the month for me :T (i love book work)
Have good days all xxx0 -
Morning all.
(((Hugs))) to SMOKY and the LOs.
N9EAV - what an expensive day! ! agree about the zoo - how ridiculous that adults have to accompany children of that age!
KYLE - hope your LO is better today.
REDRUBY - Aussie's Impossible Pie is a big hit in our house - last time I added drinking chocolate powder and it was really delicious. It's great with custard, creme fraiche, cream and Greek yoghurt. I still haven't tried the savoury one but will do this week.
AUSSIE - I can't wait to see what you come up with today for poor Mr TIRED MUM! Have just seen that you've already posted today's pic!
CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:
I'm just loving my new monitor! It's bigger than the last one and the picture is so much crisper and sharper. Is it worth freecycling the old one? It's a 15" flat screen which takes ages to 'warm up (up to 45 mins at the last count!); I'm just wondering if someone who is good with these techie things would have a use for it. I don't just want to bin it if someone can make use of it for parts or something. I might just list it on freecycle explaining what is wrong with it.
Well, I've got lots of silly little errands to run today - including getting petrol; I've been running on fumes for the last couple of days. I used to be able to put £15 worth in the tank and know how long it would last, but now it's gone up so much in price that my usual £15 worth is going to have to be £20! What with that and the increase in food prices - which is quite startling with some things like eggs, butter and so on - MSE is even more essential!
Well, I'd better get DH up for work so I'll catch up with you all later.

Good Morning All
I am sat at the laptop looking at a grey and miserable day, so another day using the TD.
DH has been told he can work as an asst on the trains until at least until he has the results of an ear exam at the local hospital, so we won't know quite what is happening until after the 14th.
DD's are all still asleep so I shall have to give them a call or it will be rubber eggs and not scrambled for breakfast.
I hope you all have a good 'un
Valjk xGrocery Challenge for April £250:) spent £ 96

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: He looks like he is going to drown
Kathy I made a savoury impossible pie and that irt delicious too, very quick and easy to make, well worth a go xx0 -
Morning all
Off to work soon, I worked till 4:30 yesterday and through my lunch hour, so I'll leave early today (I hope)
Some good news on the DGD front, it is possible her failiure to thrive may be caused by tongue-tie, rather that heart problems. I'm kicking my self as DD was tongue-tied & I feel I should have noticed.
Hugs to Smokey & everyone else in need.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
