    There's a kind of hush
    In Northern Rock branches today
    All over the country
You can hear no sounds of mortgages being sold
    NR's no longer so bold

Maybe it is time for a limerick competition. I'll start.

There was a buy-to-letter called Brown
Who said prices couldn't go down
So, he bought half a block
    Of flats with the Rock
And now he feels like a right clown

    :)

A country they call the U.K.
Saw its house prices rise every day
    It's now 10x average wage
To buy an empty zoo cage
And the Express says they'll double in May

There was an expert called Martin
    His financial website was starting
    'cause he had a hunch
    About a big credit crunch
    And mortgage lenders departing

    (Doesn't quite work does it?)

I never look/notice how many people are anywhere ever.
Neither do I but I tell you who I haven't seen for a while, Squattie. Hopefully he's on holiday or moved to Cuba and he isn't "helping the Police with their enquiries" somewhere.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

The developer's office was full up
They'd heard flat prices only go up
    That BTL
    Was a one way bet
Now they realise they've been sold a pup.

There was a young man with no brain,
Who thought the figures looked plain,
    "BTL, what a hoot,
    I'll be rolling in loot"
    Errr...what's this, a negative "gain"?

    Get out the gee-tars peeps!

Sung to the tune of ‘Old MacDonald’!
    Martin Lewis had a site,
    Save dosh, save dosh, save.
And on that site he had some bulls,
    Save dosh, save dosh, save.

With an up, up here and an up, up there.
Here an up, there an up
    Everywhere an up, up!
    Martin Lewis had a site
    Save dosh save dosh save.

    Martin Lewis had a site,
    Save dosh, save dosh, save.
And on that site he had some bears,
    Save dosh, save dosh, save.

With a down, down here and a down, down there.
Here a down, there a down.
    Everywhere a down, down!!
    Martin Lewis had a site
    Save dosh save dosh save.

Followed by this sung to the tune of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’

    Twinkle, twinkle one and all,
How I hope house prices fall!
They went up so very high,
Like a rocket in the sky.
    Now they’re coming down again,
All our hopes were not in vain!
