Hi
I have a query.I have opened 2007-2008 iSA with Barclays in March2007.Can I top up with this year allowance of 3600?If so will I be geting the 6.5% on the 6600 gbp only till next march 09?
Thanks in advance
Yes thats true, but 30 days before it ends you can transfer the money elsewhere.0 -
My £3,600 has been sitting in my Barclays current account ready for transfer out on April 6th into the Haven Isa. So far it hasn't moved, although I set up instructions over the phone 2/3 weeks ago for that to happen. Anyone else seen theirs move across?0

Only thing I can suggest is phoning them up, but of course, that will take years.
I don't think there are many people who have set up orders to move the money accross as I think a lot of people here haven't opened 08/09 as they have only opened 07/08.0 -
Well checked my statement today and saw £3000 had be deducted from current account. Checking my online banking, it now has my Tax Haven ISA listed as a new account. In short, all is going pretty smoothly so far. My 07/08 ISA is now officially opened with my 3k sitting in it.
Now I just need to top up with the £3600 for this year? I've only glanced so far, has anyone else gone through this? Unsure whether the top up can be done online, I'd like to think yes as the initial £3k was done online.0 -

It can't I'm afraid!
I opened my ISA online and everything went fine! When I tried too transfer the £3,600 into it a couple of days ago it would not let me!
You'll have to ring up! I did it over the phone .. it took along time to acutally to talk to someone but as soon as i did it went pretty well :T Apart from then telling me how crap my savings account is and i should get a new one :rotfl:0 -

Lol, they said pretty much the same thing to me when I went into my local branch to discuss my ISA application. I just wanted no-risk investment, they were trying to put it down and flog me something else.
Thanks though, i'll sort that out tomorrow. It's nice to know my money isn't sitting and wasting away in my current account.
Many thanks to Martin and his articles!0 -

Can I ask when you opened your account for 07/08? I'm waiting on my cheque clearing but I need to do a bit of money moving. Barclays told me today they are sending me a letter to tell me there has been a delay however the application is fine and waiting for processing. Unfortunately , they are not able to advise when they will cash my cheque. It was a last minute application for me on the 3rd or April.0 -
30th March online. I paid £3000 directly from my Barclays current account online, it went in on the 8th Apr.
I stopped by my local branch to enquire about this years top up. It seemed really straight forward, they took my basic details, filled in a single form and faxed it off. They couldn't tell me when the £3600 would be transferred exactly but they stated regardless of how long, interest would be back dated, like before.
All in all, my first cash ISA experience has been very pleasant, so far, especially considering I left it till the last moment but that was simply due too extensive research
Funny thing is, my banking experience with Barclays has been absolutely horrendous. Don't ask, lol.0 -
I already have a Barclays ISA from last year (the one that was deluged with applicants - I think it was 8%?) and it is due to mature in May 08.
The interest rate will then drop - I'm not sure what it will drop to, can anyone remember?
Also, can I apply to open the new 6.5% ISA for THIS tax year independently of my existing ISA, or will they just add my £3600 to my old ISA where it will get the reduced rate?0 -
The Tax Beater rate at present, including the 1% bonus is 6.50%, the bonus will be removed on the anniversary of when the account was opened.
Yes, you can open a Tax Haven with Barclays even if you intend to keep your Tax Beater with them. However, it might be worth your while considering transferring the Tax Beater elsewhere for a better rate of interest.0
