Come on Nyk fess up what you spent the £150 on:eek: Hope its something really silly and outrageous as i have had a bad day and need cheering up
Lost one of my favourite old ladies today, she had a bad stroke and despite me doing cpr the ambulance men were unable to revive her. It's one thing doing cpr on a dummy but when it is a real person and you are hanging on for the ambulance it is really exhausting.
Puts things into perspective though, was really happy to see my DD tonight,:kisses3: even though she talks too much and is very messy. We really should tell people we love them more often.0 -
PS I did pay for the deposit for the makeover + photoshoot thingy against what is adviced here but it will be such a nice treat and there are no good pictures of me and DD together so I am allowing this pampering day for myself that means that in May petrol budjet will be blown again - and nobody saw this as you wouldn't bother reading stuff after signature would you.)
All us frugal mse'rs always read the small print:rolleyes: Fess up:p0 -
Oh, bless you SophiesMum, I'm so sorry to hear that. You did everything you could and I'm sure that you made her last days wonderful with all the effort you put into all your oldies. I tell people I love them all the time, it's important. And on that note,

taka hope you are feeling brighter this evening.
bails how I sympathise with your employment situation. THe system can be so unfair
Whitewing can I give you a teeny weeny bit of adviceI wouldn't bother worrying because I am World Champion Class worrier of the Universe  I will worry for you....for free...and if I haven't got anything to worry about I will worry about that as well. I know all the in depth reasons why worrying is futile but does that stop me??? Does it what
sophiesmum what a sad story about one of your old friends. A tragic way to die but she was with people who cared. I am getting so attached to my ladies, I hate it when they take longer than usual to let me in the house in case anything has happened during the night.
Had a pretty frugal day really. Restrained myself from buying some plant pots for potting on some bedding plants and used up the huge stack of toilet rolls I had amassed.
Don't frugallers collect strange things
I am still using my soapnuts and no-one has complained about bad smells yet
Its my 3 days off but am working extra as we are going away next week for a few days before DH goes into hospital. Good thing is, with the money I have saved from the housekeeping, no worries about spending money and having to not pay a bill so we have holiday spends :T
This frugalling has such positive knock on results.
And, we will have a whole new load of Charity Shops and Car Boots to investigate :T :rotfl:
We certainly know how to have a good time0 -
Well done on the frugal day Janey. It's so great that you have money for your trip away too, what a great feeling that is :TThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Sophiesmum I am so sorry to hear about what happened, you are very brave to be able to face up to such things and have to deal with it as part of your job. Sending you a virtual
Hope we can be of some support to you whenever it's needed.
Marru, we ALWAYS read the small print but I was counting on everyone pretending that you can't just highlight text to read the silly colours. Hmm.. next time I'll try white on white and not even mention that it's there, then you'll all just think that I jammed the 'return' key.
Bails, I don't know if I should fully 'fess up yet, as it was something quite silly. Let's just say I ventured into a site that I hadn't used for quite some time and thought, what the heck, let's give it another shot and hope not to get wiped out, gotta make a start earning my millions somewhere and I just can't rely on free bingo.Anyway, it was a brief visit, a couple of clicks and WHAM! £150 gone! But at least I do have something to show for it.
Hi Janey, hope DS gets on alright in hospital and well done on the frugalling affording you the luxury of a jumble sale and charity shop extravaganza break! I'm jealous already!
Has anyone any idea what a community shop is? We passed one whilst out on our 'stuff work, I'm off' escapade today but didn't have time to stop and find out what was inside. I may need to go the same route next week when taking DGD to the animal park just to be nosy!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi Sophiesmum, what a sad story. I am sure you can take consolation from that you have given her such a good time especially with all your lovely cooking and that you did all you could. It is blessing to go quickly. I saw my GM deteriorating for years after a stroke and that is very hard for everybody.
By the way are you sure you weren't talking about my DD? :rotfl:
I think I am going to give up on catching up with my tasks today. DD is at nursery all day tomorrow because pre school is closed so I have whole day to catch up. Will just clean boy piggies cage and then settle down to watch Waking the Dead.
The photoshoot thingy. I only signed for it as I am collecting points to get a book about writing. (only 47 points to go) It is in London and they do make up and hair and then I get the photoshoot. Obviously the photos will cost (I will get the deposit back) but I just want one of me and DD and perhaps one of her. I need to get my hair cut before that as they only style (which I would need to do anyway) and I am going to treat myself with new clothes (I won £20.- worth of M&S vouchers in my previous job). Only problem is that I have promised myself that I am not getting new clothes until I can fit into size 12 so I will have a month now to get down to it. This might affect my scientific biscuit study so you will need to wait for the results from round 2.
Better get cracking with the cleaning and feeding. 3 mouths fed - 7 to go.
Have great rest of the evening everybody!

Marru, one of my neighbours did the photoshoot thing. The pix were very good but she didn't buy all the shots (trying to be frugal) and after a few weeks/months she was surprised to be offered the remaining ones at a greatly reduced rate.
Only thing is, I don't know if they always do this! You'll have something lovely to look back on, anyway. I don't quite understand why you're trying to get a book on writing this way, though - is it some sort of special thing you can't get through the normal channels (I mean the library)?
