What a great idea to make such an effort with your DD's invites Nyk, the individual touch is priceless! Who cares if they cost the earth? ;):rotfl:

sadly i think i will be back at work tomorrow...if it were a thursday i think i would be very tempted to take the day off to 'make sure i was better' ;)

do you have seeds for your garlic chives? i read somewhere that you can plant a clove of garlic to grow bulbs, but that when you do it in wee pots indoors it doesnt work, but you can still eat the sprouty bits...i quite fancy trying this, but im a bit worried i have got it wrong and will poison myself! (still, i guess i could always test it on a wed evening, and have a 'poisoned bingo thursday'!!)

what a glorious day we had here.Sunny though still a bit chilly. My garden is a suntrap thought. My dd played in the garden as soon as we came home from school at 3.30pm - 6.30pm.I really enjoyed watching her while pottering around my kitchen. She has such a good imagination that she managed to play on her own with no "toys".She went on a snail hunt, did a gymnastics show and songs.Raced against herself and picked daisies.
Very frugal don't you think :)

Children can have SO much fun for free, I know I always used to :) In fact, you don't have to grow out of it :D Todays free entertainment involved a long cycle ride along the coast, reading up on a few threads here, and in a minute I'm off to read a few chapters of my book then bed :A

Ok, I'm no angel - just getting in as many NSD as possible lol, gonna feel pretty deflated come the weekend! Friday = pay for train ticket to london and a leaving do to go to, Saturday = paying for flights and hotel for summer hol in Majorca
  • Hi fellow frugalites,
Sorry I haven't posted for awhile, but have been very poorly. This was a godsend last month cos coupled with the fact that other members of the household were away, I was £58.00 UNDER BUDGET for the month. I have since spent this going to my eldest daughter's graduation.
Regarding the food price increases, I have noticed at work (I'm a catering manager) that the food costs have crept up by about £200.00 per month since Christmas:eek: . As I have been housebound for the past few weeks, I have used up the store cupboard and freezer food and am dreading going shopping tomorrow. (Think I'll abandon the £10.00 shopping challenge for the next week or so).
Managed to sell some tickets that I won on ebay and have put money into my 'Free £1,000 by Christmas' fund which is currently standing at £277.
I also managed to win tickets to TCT Paul Weller at The Royal Albert Hall which I went to with my man. We had a lovely meal (paid for by said man) and then had a fantastic evening (I'm a huge PW fan).
I've found another freebie site (HotUkDeals) from which I have received a number of gifts, some good enough to pass on as pressies:D
When I've figured out how to do the signature bit, I will put all of the info on the post.

Do you think Martin has been lurking in our thread? I found this from the weekly newsletter: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=874133 Nyk and Janey have a look.

    Good link Marrru. Thanks.

Well, fellow frugal people. Has everyone seen the doom and gloom about the increase in food prices for the average family and forecasts to get worse?
I am not one for stockpiling as I don't eat a lot but anyone have any thoughts about what it might be worth get a few extra of ?
Got a new empty big cupboard in the kitchen...another DH impulse buy. He says he has lost the receipts for all the food he bought for his impromptu party at the weekend. Excuse me for having my cynical frugal hat on. Methinks he is a little embarassed at how much food is left.

Ha ha, great link Marru - I'm sure Martin takes all his inspiration from our little band of merry frugallers ;) I think I'll be keeping my eye on there for any future wedding plans, seen some great ideas already :T

  • I just spent a HORRENDOUS amount in Boots *faints* It was mostly on BOGOF sunscreen, 3 for 2 insect repellent, BOGOF antiseptic wipes and other bits and bobs for going travelling, which means it won't come out of the £4K amount... but still!!! I'm over my weekly budget already just through a £10 grocery shop, the dentist, and buying a few essential toiletries I was running low on  aaahh well. I've followed a hint from here and bought value conditioner to use instead of shaving gel - hopefully it will work!

That's so cute Molly - I remember the days of spending hours making daisy chains! I so want kids :o

    Hi

Click on my homepage (its under my name/logo here) to get to my blog. One of my first posts was on what food to stockpile (headline "food storage").
