EDITED IN: I would be interested to know how far off the £4000 mark everyone is when they work out their actual annual budgets. How many of us on here really ARE below the £4000 mark?

I've just done the math and it was a big surprise :o

I don't know if it's good form to write down my figures on here so have left them out for now. Suffice to say what I have left over is considerably more than 4k. Anyone who manages on less than 4k, especially those with families in tow, hats off to you!! :T

Sitting here catching up on the latest when I suddenly got a whiff of boiled chicken...OMG I forgot the Frugal Stock.....rushed downstairs and the kitchen resembles a sauna in a hen house......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I like the garden-sharing idea a lot and in fact I was once offered the chance of doing this in a nearby garden and didn't take it up (how stupid was I?). Round here there's a lot of skillshare, co-op and LETS stuff going on, though I don't have time to make the fullest use of it (can't wait for retirement when I can really get going) and people are quite receptive to that sort of thing. I reckon if you put a card up in a post office where older people go for their pensions, offering it as a service, not something you want from them, you might get a response. But be quick because they are phasing out the girocheques...if they haven't done so already...

I am BACK! And I have had the most AMAZING weekend. More later.

Good afternoon frugalbuddies, hopefully Marru got away on time and remembered to finish packing :)

I did, thank you. 24 minutes later than wanted but despite that arrived to first destination half an hour earlier than would've been acceptable.

Bails, after your mentioning travel, I meant to say that cousin and I had been discussing going (Scottish) island hopping this summer and another friend has also said she's love to go. I know it isn't quite sun, sand and sangria, but it could be fun attempting to cram as many islands into a week as was physically possible AND sticking to a budget! LOL

Oh please, please, can you take me and DD and the Dog with you? Sounds to me like a perfect holiday!!

Andromache well done from me too!! :T

Oh wow, can anyone get those prices? It would be great to take the bikes and do a tour, wild camp etc :j Wish I could manage it now  but definitely one for the future. How do you feel about camping?

Do you think we would all fit into my Clio? :D

Whitewing: Just think that it makes space for something better to come. And that is something you duly deserve!

Prudent: Wow - your win amounts look amazing. Well done!!! :j

Ani*fan, Smartt21 and Wendywitch: BIG WELCOME! :hello:

Brought DD home form the nursery and she didn't want to go to bed as she said she was hungry. So made her an egg and cheese on toast. Came upstairs to enjoy all your posts, forgot the time and then thought that house was quiet - too quiet. Went downstairs to have a look. DD had fallen asleep on the sofa and her food was on the sofa table untouched - bless. She is now tucked to bed.

Marru sorry to say I've no older brothers, I'm one of a kind :p How d'you know I'm not on the market for a sugarmommy though? :D;):p

Ooh - thank you. Does warm the old heart it does. :o;)

NYK: Thanks for the info about co-op. I have faithfully been using my card since last September without having a clue if it amounts to anything. I shall now exitedly wait to hear from them. So agree with you about DGD. Couldn't imagine trying to do half of the things that you are planning on doing with DD running rounds here.

Mumzy: I hope you had a nice weekend with your sister.

Bails: Great to hear that you are feeling better. Do you think you are up to rescuing the sunflowers. They are "dying to meet you". (Sorry - couldn't resist :o)

Pirategirl: WHERE ARE YOU? WE MISS YOU? ARE YOU OK?

FunBrum: Sorry to hear that you haven't been well but well done of making the brave jump. A friend of mine (year from retirement) left her long term job as she was getting so unhappy and landed within a week into her dream job that gives her more flexibility and more free time.

    Frugal plans for today:
    • Need to nip to asda for a few bits for oldies tea tonight (might have a look for some of Draigs pizza mixes to add to stores)and pick up big pack of compost for frugalmum.
    • Need to nip to frugalmums to cut my brother's hair and deliver the compost.
    • Keep an eye on how decking is progressing and make brews for workmen.
    • Cook the tea for the oldies./recycle any leftover veggies for soup.
Other than that will be a relaxing day:D Have a good day everyone.

You call that relaxing?? Can't you bottle what it is you have? You'd make fortune!!

Janey: OOOOUUUUCH!! x2 I hope you are feeling better today. Do you think all this is a sign to [strike]tell you[/strike] shout at you to spend some time on your bottom?

: WELL DONE!!! Go and get that chocolate to celebrate (oops - Sophiesmum beat me to it :p).

Oh Jumble-Bee, he's roaring with laughter at that one....

    Ummm - so was I :o

Phui - I guess that was it. And I was away only for three days!!!

Anyway. I had absolute magical time. The course was great and now I just need to practise. I will not include the cost of this trip into the challenge as consider it as an investment to my future. DD had great time at her Godmother's so much so that first 10 minutes when we left she was crying and said she doesn't want to go to Mummy's house - she wants to go back. All is well now anyway and she didn't make too much of a fuss on getting back in the end. I want to go and do the course again next year but haven't had the courage to ask DD's godmother if she wouldn't mind looking after DD again.

Really tired now (have to admit that driving back from London this morning was a tough one as had difficulties staying awake ). So need to go and find out which bookie has my money after the games during the weekdend so that can update my spreadsheet (one of the many).

    Take care everybody!!!

Did anyone watch the Dispatches, programme this evening on Channel 4? I couldn't believe how mad the couple were that threw out so much food every week. My OH and I were saying that that little lot could keep us going for a fortnight!:D

I can't believe that there are still some people out there that haven't a clue how much they are paying for food! It's second nature to us frugalites!

I was also watching the re-runs of 'The Good Life' I love it!:T That is my ultermate aim, to live off the land, as is the dream of a lot of you peeps.

Has anyone popped over to the OS board and seen the threads where folks have been showing their veggie gardens? I don't know how to put it up on here, but if you haven't already seen it, go there, they are an inspiration.:T

I will be sorting out car-bootie stuff that is in the shed tomorrow as well as taking up some of my back lawn to prepare for raised beds. OH doesn't mind as he says it's less for him to mow!:rotfl:
