Nyk the buffet ideas sound great:D there should be plenty of choice there for everyone.
Janey - :grouphug: sending you some hugs, you are really having a tough time at the moment one way and another.Hope you get a chance to have some time out for yourself.Glad you didn't lose your sense of humour:D
smart21 - welcome on board as Nyk says there are people on here who are debt free but like the frugal challenge, and are saving for other things. In my case this will be living abroad with enough money in the bank to keep us for several years;)
whitewing - Glad you got to spend some quality time with OH, you are right being in control of the finances does enable you to make choices about your lifestyle to change the things that aren't working:D
DdraigGoch- think the oldies can fend for themselves next week and I will come to you for a lovely posh tea:rotfl:

Oldies are now all fed and watered and dispatched back to their flats to watch telly/snooze off their tea. Intend to spend the rest of the evening catching up with mse and pootling around house doing not much at all.:j0 -

Hi mumzy,
:j well done on the no spend day:D
It's not like you to come across as feeling down your posts usually make me smile as you are always so enthusiastic even when you are not doing well on the spending front. Hope you are feeling okay now:D0 -
Thank you all for your good wishes.
Sophiesmum, and NYK. I will check-out what you have suggested. I have been trying to keep up as much as possible with lots of different threads to help me through. I have already planted potatoes, toms, carrots and strawberries in hanging baskets. To help me cheer up, I've made the front and back garden look really pretty with annuals, and finally planted some heathers by my clematis...do you remember the bloomin' one that was forever falling down in the wind?! Around my front door, on the steps, I've planted different size pots with Lobellia, Bizzie Lizzies, ivy and Geraniums. It looks all cottagey and I love it.:D
OH has been an angel and has really taken on board the whole frugal living concept. All I need to do is to motivate him....and myself....to decorating the house. I became ill just as I booked time off work to do it!
I'm planning to do a car boot-sale next weekend, maybe even on both Sat. and Sun. I usually make quite a bit, around £60-£100 so I think that the more I do, will help replenish my bank account.;)
Well, have lots of reading to catch up on.

Sophiesmum - WOW! Asda bargains! That has convinced me! I will make that trip for the party fare even although Asda is an 80 mile round trip. It's just as far to the nearest Tesco, so not much difference, and I can spend my Woolworths vouchers whilst in town.
Mumzy, hope you are feeling a bit happier now, it's probably just a bit of a downer after having had your mum & sister staying and then their leaving again.
Funbrum, your garden sounds lovely! I don't have a front garden, although I have sat pots outside the door on the pavement and have a couple of hanging baskets, so it isn't too drab.
Frugal website has been updated with more photographs taken this afternoon. I was so, so tempted to pick the strawberries, even although they probably need a tiny bit more sun! They just look so good!
I have spent a bit of time trying to check through my spending diary but it hasn't really made that much of a difference, other than the fact that I found a credit card payment logged into it!I've update my signature and started doing the breakdown for the end of the month. I'm quite surprised at the amount I have managed to buy when compared to the amount I have spent! I just need to get past 30th June and then that's the week the electricity bill falls due. I have guesstimated £175 for the quarter, which is about a third of the last bill.
Parents are coming to stay next weekend for the party, but I shouldn't really need to buy anything extra as there's plenty in store. Possibly extra milk will be needed, but that's about it. Everyone should know by now that this is a frugal household.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Thanks sophiesmum i usually think my posts are boring compared to other peoples posts..mine are always the same rountine lol. NYK i was thinking that before i think the only reason im feeling that this is because my mum stayed for a week then my friend stayed 2 nights and then i slept here alone and then my sister came so all in all ive had 1 night alone in like 2 weeks.
I picked up a spend £30 save £5 off at tesco today in news of world it ends on 28th i think and there is also one for next week too, im going to stock up on dry things like tins and packets..just need to figure on how im carrying it all back on bus..twin pram maybe needed
forgot to mention i woke this morning to find 5cm of water in tomato plants buckets... all 5 of them! i tipped all water out but think some may have drowned as some water was right up to the leaf at bottom of stalk. :O
Anyone know how to save them? i dont know why this happened because there is plenty of holes in the buckets, we did have loads of rain thoughSealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -
after failing miserably for the 1st half of 2008, i am coming back in for the 2nd half.
2k plus child benefit, will not be including rent, council tax, water, debt repayments, holidays or savings. have worked out that its £133 per week for me.
really needed to get my head out of the sand and make this work this time. will be writing down everything!!!November NSD's - 70 -
Mumzy, your tomato plants might be OK, they probably just got saturated with raining falling into the pots quicker than it was draining out again. If you can make any more holes in the bottom without breaking the plants then I'd try that. Also, make sure they are raised slightly off the ground, so there's drainage space underneath; even a few pebbles under the pots can help.
That was a great deal you got with your Tesco vouchers! I wish I had known about it - would have gone and bought a copy of the newspaper just to get them. I never buy newspapers or magazines, although I do have a subscription to a monthly mag that I got with my iPoints and I took the £1 for 12 copies ration Times offer. Must cancel that, as nobody is reading them - waste of a £ that was! :eek:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Owwww, Janey. NOT nice.
My "elegant dining" is very much the exception to the rule, trust me on this:rotfl:If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
Nyk: tabbouleh is good for buffets and also frugal, and you can make it to suit vegans. (I've been waiting to send this post as I couldn't remember what tabbouleh was called - kept thinking 'tabitha' !!!!!! The old memory's definitely not what it was....)'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe
