In a rush as working today for a few hours but will catch up later. Mind you, it's another good day here, so the garden may call later this afternoon.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Good morning fellow frugallers:D
Lovely day here today. Have just about got over the shock of spending oodles of cash yesterday on unplanned stuff:rolleyes: today i will be spending on some planned stuff for my stockpile when I go to costco for the oldies. I need rice, bacon, uht milk, and some other bits and pieces which are cheaper from there.
Then I will be going to pick some tinned stuff up that I have asked my brother to get me from the staff shop (he works at heinz;) ) we don't use a lot of tins but handy to have a few things in for lazy days or quick snacks for DD, who is always ravenous when she gets back from the stables.
Must also put a big wad of cash into my sealed pot in lieu of electricity payments so there will be major damage to my totals to update by the end of today:eek:
Hope everyone has something enjoyable planned for the weekend,:grouphug: for anyone who is working. Janey hope your OH is doing okay.
Just off now for a shower as I am sitting here in pyjamas:eek: then I will be doing a round trip of garden centre, garage, costco, asda, mum's, and home again - luckily all within a 10 mile trip;)
Catch up with you all later, enjoy your day.0 -

Hi mumzy
Costco is sort of a cash and carry warehouse. You pay a yearly membership fee but you can make big svings on buying stuff in bulk and on discounted household stuff etc. We have a card for work which I use to buy the meat etc for the oldies meals, some things are much cheaper some you are better getting from supermarket. Meat is generally good value, bacon, spices, rice, etc and they often have special offers.
I could take you some time to have a peek if you like:D0 -
Hi everyone
Determined to reduce food spending further this month have just spent almost 2 hours putting away a monster £180 mr t delivery
I should only need to buy a few things from ethnic grocers and fruit and veg for the rest of the month
I have taken to walking to the local spar shop in a morning they reduce f&v last thing at night i havn't paid full price for veg and cucumbers for a while and occasionallly fruit too prepacked pack 9 peaches for 70p and a sweetheart cabbage for 20p and 1/2 cue 20p punnets cherry toms 40p and packs mushrooms 30p
they also reduce bread and cakes to silly prices but they do that mid morning
even my 16yo said i had bought too much................how do people spend this much weekly???

:rotfl: I had to laugh, as those were my exact words when my bulk shop arrived from Mr T! I think, perhaps, people that have that amount to spend on food every week must be buying prime cuts of meat, luxury brands and exotic, top of the range ice creams and deserts. Perhaps they pick up a couple of bottles of champagne, a salmon, organic freerange everything and the odd jar of caviar as well, and pop a few convenience items in just for good measure. :rotfl:
I'm hoping my major shop lasts me until the end of the year, as I'm only planning on spending about £10 per week from now until Christmas.
Today it is too warm to work outside in the garden! Washing is dried and last night's escapades with the beer in homemade snail traps has paid off! Quite a few over-indulged! Fileas Frog is still in the mini-pond and the bottom of the garden is looking so much better after shifting all the rubbish and the compost heap. Must take more piccies for my website. Just spotted the first flower on a tomato plant.
I've also placed my bets for today's Derby. I tried looking for better odds and just logged in to find out if my bet has been matched and it has! So, fingers crossed and I'm hoping to get a little bit of place money again. Good luck to all who are having a bet. I'm not a gambler and have only bet the National and the Oaks this year - won place money in both so the Derby would make it 3 out of 3.Pity I can't pick winners!
Just spotted LingoJingo's post and YES! It is quite scary when you think that from 65 you may need to afford to live for another 35 years without any income from work! I've got as far as investing £15 per month into a 10 year bond with life assurance included but I haven't a clue where I'll can afford to live once I'm not earning.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
