The plane noise rang a bell with me. I think this is something to do with the air/gas ratio needing tweaked?

I'll try to find the article that mentioned this.

The Worcester Bosch man that services our boiler had a probe that took digital readings and he had to make an adjustment to the mix to stop noise we had.

Your boiler is under guarantee so if you are not happy, call WB themselves.

    Hi

    Sorry, but it's not right,

Do you have a room stat?
From the noise you describe the heating system is ok until the TRVs close down ,then the boiler has nowhere to pump the water and it's overheating. I'm not familiar with the internals of the boiler and the manual doesn't make it clear whether it has an internal bypass, it only mentions one as an external installer fitted one. There should be a radiator with no TRV and this should be in the room or area with the room stat. Try leaving one TRV fully open and see if it helps. You may have leaks on the system, as Bob says, look around at the rad valves when the system is cold.
The system pressure should be 1 bar when cold . You need to read your user instructions for water temp settings and the meaning of the letters in the display.
All in all you are a bit stuffed because if you call Worcester they will throw it back to you as an installer problem and the installer clearly knows nothing. You have some basic system problems IMO and you need someone who knows how it should be done.
You could have other problems with gas supply . Without seeing the system that's about it.

    Hi Canuckle,

No room stat. Went back to installer with your thoughts and they'll come out again but Worcester willing to check it all for free too if need be so excellent!

Coudl it be the condensating or co2 emmissions or something as well????

    Hi

I would get Worcester if they are doing a freebie. I don't know if you were offered the room stat and you declined or if any other items were offered and declined but I feel the installer is not up to the job.Get a list of defects from Worcester and find someone to carry out remedial work. (Maybe even Worcester and counter charge the original installer?)
Do you know if the installer is Corgi even? You should receive a Compliance Certificate as well http://www.trustcorgi.com/consumer/requestacertificate.htmx

    Installer defo CORGI!

He said I could have either trv's or room stat and he has just trv's so went with that.

Compliance cert will be a few weeks I was told.

I've registered with Worcester for my 2nd year free warranty too as seems I may need it !

I *thought* that it was mandatory to have a room thermostat? (though obviously not in the same room as rooms with TRVs).

    Hi

OK .This could go on forever. If Worcester are happy to come in and look at the system /boiler then do that. Let us know what happens?

  • Having wired more than my fair share of boilers (I would buy a worcester if I were looking for a boiler) I would suggest a stat

Worcester do a wirefree stat for thier boilers and this would involve minimal disruption.
    baldly going on...

I've just had a combi system fitted that has no room stat, just TRV's on all the radiators.

Boiler is an Alpha 35CD and there's no noise when the TRV's turn off.

    Cheers again all!

Got the guys coming back today and leaving it on most of the day for them to here.

They said I could have TRVs or a room stat but recommended TRVs as he has just them! He said it has an auto-bypass so....!???

It is also condensating into my bathroom somewhere so maybe something to do with that!?

Will Worcester not charge me in the end though if not the actual boiler???
