Welldone Starlite you have done really well and I am so pleased that you have got it sorted. And as Tinalives says - you can deal with anything now!
Their should be a "Success Story" thread to show how MSErs can help get someone out of a difficult position - and beat the nasty companies who try and make money out of our misery!!
A big round of applause for everyone who has supported Starlite over the last few days - it really is inspiring!!0 -
Gosh...just read whole thread...good on you...things always turn out OK in the end- it's just hard to see this when in the middle of all the quagmire!
I don't know about bailiffs, but I do know about benefits...I would ring and chase if I were you. 7 weeks seems like a long time...but will go quickly. Oh, and by the way, I hope you are using 18866 - if not look on the telephones board.0 -
Hi Starlite,
Just read this thread - well done for standing up for yourself and good luck for you, your partner and your new baby.

So pleased you seem to have got things sorted. Hope everything will be okay now and wish you, your OH and the baby all the best for the future.
I am so glad you stood up to the Bailiff. I know they have a job to do but why can't they be a bit more understanding? It really annoys me that they take people's possessions and then sell them for peanuts. It really shouldn't be allowed. If they are going to sell them they should at least make sure they get what the item is worthThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Hi Starlite,
Just read the whole thread..................wow, well done you for standing up to the bailiff!
Sending hugs etc, to you, boyfriend, and baby (do you know what your having) any names?
Love

Iam so pleased you got rid of the baliff, exercised your legal rights and enforced the council to co-operate. Be proud, be very proud!
Enjoy the rest of your day and take care of yourself and your baby.
Hugs, :grouphug:

Starlite WELL DONE GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are all so proud of you that goes with out saying I think Just one last thing PLEASE PLEASE Dont forget to continue to log all correspondance names dates letters calls ect ect in one big file box as I have had similiar dealings with benefits and council tax in the past but never got to Bailiff stages and when i let my guard down thinking I was straight and owed them nothing Benefits stung me like megga hard a year or so later and i had one thing in my favor and that was i had lodged the original and all further dealings at the CAB so file was handy and i fought it out but only managed to get the debt which i was told originally was clear down to a 1/3 of there new revised figures..... But if I had not had the original papers this would have been so hard to prove it was there error that led to the debt being there ......... Obviously not all cases are like mine and i pray all your benefits get sorted without any further delay and it all runs smooth Good luck to you ,OH , and, baby£2.00 savings club =£2.000

I've just read this thread....
WOW!!! what an awful situation the bailiff (and council) was putting you in, esp considering your pregnancy probs!
OK you missed a few payments but then to ask for all of the years CT at once is so MEAN!! especially since it's obvious you were having trouble finding the cash for the arrears!! (i know it's the policy to cancel DD arrangements etc when in arrears of 2 mths or more...but still.....)
I realise that they probably hear all the sob stories anyone could imagine up and therefore are cynical, but he seemed that he couldn't be more UNhelpful!
And Well Done, for finding out your rights etc and quoting them to the council and getting them to FINALLY accept your payment plan :T
And a MASSIVE Congrats to all the other MSE-ers with their wonderful and informative advice....yet again....BIG PATS ON BACKS to you ALL!:A0
