Dustykitten I have just asked my daughter who sat her GCSE's last year this question (she got A* and was only 1 point away from a perfect grade and she lives, eats and breathes Geography), she offers the following information for whoever needs it - hope it helps.

Measuring stones...... firstly she says that it's better to use a really simple method when carrying out the investigation, then in the evaluation explain how you could have improved upon your original method, apparantly you get more marks that way.

My daughter did measuring the length and width of the stone using just a ruler, but then in her evaluation went on to explain how she could have improved upon this by working out the index of roundness which would give you the overall size. This can be worked out by dividing the width of the rock by the length and multiplying that by 1,000. Assuming that you have several rock samples from each specimen area you average the overall index of roundness by adding all the outcomes and dividing the answer by the number of rocks that you have used.

    Example:-
    length of rock = 9cm :
    width of rock = 5cm :
    divide 5 by 9 = 0.56
    then x by 1,000 = 560 IR (IR= Index of Roundness)
People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading ;)

One parcel has been delivered (by the postman), I don't expect the other one will come today now.

The sun has finally come out and it's starting to warm up a bit so perhaps the washing will dry after all.

    Dinner cooked and cleared away.
