Re QI, be aware that you'll have to be in the queue to get in to the studio a good couple of hours before the "doors open" time given by Applause Store.

They issue more tickets than there are seats for each recording. We turned up around an hour and a half before doors open for a recent recording and still got turned away.

The tickets do point out that you have to be there in advance of doors opening but don't give you any idea of just how long.

I know the tickets were free, but the 2 return train fares to London weren't so wouldn't want anyone else to miss out because of not getting there early enough.

Remember though, even if you get a ticket, audience seats are on a first-come-first served basis so for popular shows it's always worth turning up early to the filming. Can someone check this one is not some sort of mailing list gathering scam as I know for a fact that the current series has long since been filmed. (I could even tell you the winner, but then I'd have to kill you!)

Applause are a reputable firm, managing tickets for all sorts of TV shows. Perhaps this is for filming of a second series, or an Olympics special...?
