Hello MRSM!:hello:Do what you love :happyhear0

I have been doing SW for 5 weeks now and have lost 9 lbs but am already getting bored with it. I always made my own bread but my consultant said she did not know how many syns it would be and it would be better not to make my own!! I have been buying wholemeal bread but do not like it much.
I also seem to be eating so many eggs. Almost every day I have at least one and that cannot be that good can it?The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Hello all,
I'm fairly new to OS but completely addicted!! I'm a serial lurker i'm afraid, not posting very much, but i had to write to defend Weight Watchers.
I've lost 5 stone with them so far, still have 1 stone to go (and have to do that in the next 7 weeks!) I'm training to be a leader at the moment, hence the deadline. I think that from the outside, Weight Watchers looks like its all points this and points that, but on No Count/Core whatever you want to call it, with a little imagination, you can eat or make practically anything!
This is a website i've stole from the Weight Watchers message boards, from a lady called OldChem. She is amazing, seems to find a way of making any food fit into the plan.
The website is a bit hectic for my liking, but if you concentrate on the recipes, there's some great stuff there including bread and cakes (sounds good to me!)
Weight Watchers (or Slimming world for that matter) is so much more than a "DIET" and i think that as soon as people get their heads round the fact that diets dont work long term, the easier it is to lose the weight and keep it off. You really need to think of it as a healthy eating plan.

Hope this helps someone

I have done both diets in the past SW +WW. I lost weight with both, i have returned to SW and i am still cooking all my meals from scratch and not eating ready made things, this week alone iv made tuna lasagna, chicken curry, lots of roast dinners, banana cheesecake, weetabix cake.
It does take a while to get your head round it it but i stick to green days and use my meat as a heathy option.
Lunch tends to be syn free soup with a sandwich (again healthy option).
On my meal plan for next week i am trying quorn stew, homemade bacon burgers and rubarb crumble, takes some planning but SW can be OS.
Good luck everyone with the weight lose.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Yep, sure can. How much oil goes into yours? .
No oil at all...Here's the exact recipe:
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
Thank you very much Cleosmum, I really appreciate it."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

I also think that many low fat yoghurts are high in calories because the fat has been replaced with sugar etc to compensate for the taste.
Thriftlady - I know what you mean about trying to stick to a "traditional" diet. It's particularly difficult this time of year when new crops aren't here yet and everyone's so fed up with root veg.
For me it was a revelation to have my veg stir fried - my mum used to either steam or boil veg. Steaming is fine if you have top quality veg, the flavour really comes out nicely, but I think that the majority of supermarket veg needs something a bit more robust. So for example, the first time I tried brocolli that had only 3 mins in a wok with some very hot olive oil and a few slices of garlic, it was fabulous!
At the moment I do try to be creative with what's in season locally, but we do eat (and love) aubergines, peppers, chillies etc. Most of this stuff is grown in Spain - I completely draw the line against eating fruit and veg from further afield.
Oh well, onwards and upwards (or rather, downwards). It's been a great thread to read!0 -
1 egg Free on both
2 tablespoons milk 1/2 syn on both (semi-skimmed) or 1 syn on both (whole milk) 1/2 teaspoon salt Free on both
1 cup flour 25 syns on both
Searching the basic/non branded it works out as above, how many meals does the above make? Will still check when I see my cons next
Just totting up the syns for a HM wholemeal loaf, will hopefully post that tonight....0 -
Took me ages to find a recipe that didnt have too many "baddies" in it!
750g wholemeal loaf:
Water 310ml Syn free
Lemon juice 1 tbsp Syn free
Wholemeal bread flour 425g 68 syns
Unbleached white bread flour 75g 15 syns
Skimmed milk powder (Tesco healthy living) 4 tsp 4 syns
Salt 1.5 tsp Syn free
Sugar 2 tsp 2 syns
Butter 25g 10 syns
Dried yeast 1.5 tsp 0.5 syns
99.5 syns
Bet there are some lower syn recipes out there...0 -
C And if one more person extolls the virtues of Muller Lights I'll do something unspeakable with one:mad:
:rotfl: Yeah, I used to feel the same! There are other yogurts that are practically identical nutritionally so I assume SW get money from Muller for promoting their goods and turning them into a complete bl**dy fetish. You CAN do SW with lots of natural foods, but the diet itself has changed over the years to 'allow' (= push) lots more processed stuff. The first time I joined, about 20 years ago (!) it was all basics. Now there's a huge list of processed foods. Not an improvement in my book.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Personally - I would be willing to do some other way of eating totally (but still healthy of course!) for the 1/2 months per go that I need when I realise that a bit of weight has sneaked on again (as its only for long enough to get off 7-14 lbs) - though I know I really must try and go teetotal (at least until the w**k stress stops at retirement) so it doesnt have chance to sneak on again.
Has anyone got any experience of a suitable (ie healthy and filling) way of eating (as opposed to a diet as such) that would do the trick? I've noticed that no-one I've ever come across who eats a Raw Food Diet is ever overweight - but I think I might find that a bit difficult for me. I was wondering about a macrobiotic way of eating (temporarily - I couldnt stick it long-term!) and whether that would get that bit off. Open to all other veggie suggestions?0
