I cook Pup's meals; he has everything we do really just minus leek & onion--but we keep a dried complete for the odd occasion & always a few in a bowl so he can have a 'snack'.
As I use lentils, veg & oats to stretch stuff further, we're all benefitting from cutting down on meat & increasing alternative protein intake.
I've been a bit concerned about giving him a carrot tho, should he bite a chunk off & it get stuck...what do you doggie-peeps do? Cut them into oven chip sized strips? Leave them whole? Grated?TIA.

I can't BEAR waste of any kind and she lives a modern lifestyle, which I consider to be full of waste - ready meals, buying ice cubes, opening the window with the central heating on - ooh, I'm going to stop now, I'm winding myself up!!
She's 14, and she's suggested we join the library (yes bad I haven't done it before now) so that we don't need to shell out for internet access at home and she's somewhere we know she's safe. She also has changed her mind from "I want 3 quid a day for lunch to go up the street whilst at school", to "Can I have packed lunches with your home made bread but once a week get a pound to go to the bakers up the street". We're wondering if she's been kidnapped by aliens and they've replaced her with a clone (except clone's just as messy as she is)

Hi there - I give my dog carrots all the time - he loves them! We feed them to him whole (well, chunks cut off). However, my Nan used to have a small dog and she was fed grated carrot, so you could try that0 -

Mine get them whole - to be honest I can tell mine chew them well as I usually ends up with "grated" carrot all over the floor (from out the sides of their mouths, yuk). My older girl dog though gets bite sized chunks because she is dainty and not a greedy pig like the lads! I think whatever works for you BigMummaF, whatever you feel comfortable with and it does depend on the size of your doggy.:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0 -

what an absolute little star :T . Maybe you either have the OS gene or you don't!0 -
Unixgirl - I think your daughter must be very unusual. Normally at 14 they think money grows on trees and always want to keep up with latest fashions. It's great that she's adopting such a prudential financial attitude. Perhaps you could encourage this by opening a savings account for her (in your name) and depositing some of the savings so that she can have the proceeds when she reaches 21 .0

And WHAT pray do volunteers at the Great British Beer Festival do? Are you guides for the blind drunk? I am intrigued - do tell! And shall we join you?
OH is a bar Manager and I'm a deputy bar manager. During the course of the five day festival we look after about 29 different real ales, making sure that as many as possible can be on sale in superb quality at any given time. There are about 14 different bars at the festival all selling either British real Ale, Foreign beer, or Cider & Perry. We're all CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) members and we give our time for nothing although we do get subsidised beer, food and either accomodation or travel. It's great fun but very tiring - we work from about 9.30am to 7pm for the three setup days and then from about 9.30am to midnight the five days the festival is open - by the end of it your feet and back are screaming!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I think this thread is great have seen loads of great ideas that I am now using!!, couple of things I do for really soft skin (hope they have not been posted):
Cheapy version:
Baby lotion mixed with sugar - stand in your bath rub all over your body (not on face though as a bit harsh) - wash off in shower and you will have really soft skin.
Posher version (still cheap but looks good in a kilner jar)
Mix a bottle of almond oil with brown sugar & add a few drops of the favorite essential oil - do the same as above and it works wonders - Lavender is a favorite of mine - not only do you get really soft skin but it really gives you a good nights sleep!!!0 -
I make up a 1lb bread dough to make a pizza. I make two bases for about 20p. (Lidl strong bread flour, 46p for a 3lb bag) I use one base and freeze the other ready on the tray.
When I need to use it, I get it out of the freezer in the morning and let it defrost. It's just ready for teatime.
I cover the base with tomato paste and then any vegetables I have eg onion, pepper, courgette, mushroom and pile grated cheese on top.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
