Sneaky ways to save the pennies

Its not really sneaky but I am so proud of myself today. My car is at the mechanics and I was going to spend £4 on a "ranger" bus ticket to get to work and back (and home and back to work at lunch time to see my muttleys) but I thought, no I am going to cycle, and I did. I know people do this every day and its nothing new but I am so proud of myself I had to post! I haven't ridden a bike for about 13+ years so I think its quite an achievement for me, lol. Will be setting off for my lunchtime jaunt in a minute. My bum is wincing just thinking about it! LOL.:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0

Thanks Valli, I am super proud *chest puffs out*
Whilst I am here, as a treat I give my dogs the outer leaves of a cauliflour. Sounds gross but they love them and they are free (well to a fashion)! I also buy those big value bags of carrots from the supermarket and they get those as a treat aswell - much cheaper than dog treats, minimal calories and they help them see in the dark (LOL).
I am sure I do other things but I can't think of anymore at the moment. I love this thread though and I shall keep coming back for other peoples tips, they are great!:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0 -
When I baked I used to buy those large square boxes of margarine by Kraft. When the marge was coming to the end I would add some flour until I got the crumble consistency and add sugar. Depending on how much I had I would wither add an egg for raspberry buns of rock cakes or bag it up and freeze it till I had some more. Absolutely no waste!!
This was in the 70's and I still have a collection of those boxes as the llids have a good seal.0 -
Well done lv - that must taken a huge psychological (and physical) effort after not having ridden a bike for so many years. The next trip will be a little easier! I don't have a bike and haven't ridden one since my teenage years, but I'm jolly sure that the one I pedal away on in the gym is a lot easier, not having to worry about balance, passing cars who are out to kill you, and coping with the unexpected weather.0
