I made a beef casserole yesterday having visited a fabulous farm shop with proper dark meat. As I knew it would have lots of flavour I put in far more veg, green lentils and liquid than I would have normally. Have frozen the beef and the normal amount of veg and juice that we would eatas a casserole and have got 3 big portions of beef/veg soup spare - just had one - lovely - the other two are in the freezer. sort of free lunches next week for me!0

People seem to use `wipes` now for lots of things.
When my kids were small whenever we went out I always took a flannel moistened with plain water and rung out, then put in a small plastic bag to keep it damp and away from other things and used this to wipe dirty faces.
No cost at all.0 -

I've been using vouchers a lot more than usual; normally I wouldn't bother but as the cost of things has been creeping up I've been grabbing them wherever I can! In Tesco's you can use manufacturer's coupons even if you haven't bought the product, as long as they stock it, but I sometimes find it a bit embarrassing if the person on the till queries this, so I use the self-scan tills. I don't know how long they'll keep accepting coupons so I'm trying to restock the freezer with meat etc so that if they stop taking them I'll have a bit of a stockpile!2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -

I looked on USwitch and saw that NPower had a much cheaper tariff than the one that I was on (which was now uncompetitive), which would save me £300 a year.
Called NPower, who advised this was only available to new customers. I had a hissy fit, and told them that as a very loyal and thrifty customer, it was the least that they could do to give me their best offer. Again they refused. Then asked to be transferred to a supervisor, and told her that unless I was moved on to the new tariff, with immediate effect, I was moving to Scottish Power.
Guess what ... she asked me to read both my meters, while she waited on the phone, once she got the new figures, she advised me that I was on the new tariff with immediate effect.
So simple, took all of 10 minutes. This was much easier than switching suppliers.
Well done, Scrooge2008 :T - great result :j .0 -
Yep, we would qualify as we get working tax credits but the warm front woman told us it would be replaced but it has to be broken which ours isn't unfortunately.
We do have gas cover but they would only replace the boiler if absolutely neccessary.proud mum of son with aspergers0 -
My heart sinks at the length of this thread, so I hope the following hasn't been posted already:
To clean leather shoes, handbags etc. rub them with the inside of a banana skin. Leave to dry then use a soft brush or cloth to finish off. The leather is thus naturaly nourished and conditioned - at no cost.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

i have just been to my local butchers and picked up half a lamb for £44 all cut up into meals for 4 (theres loads :j ) butcher asked me whether i wanted the bones for the dog and i said yes as i have a rottie so i got a bag of fresh lamb bones for the dog for 12p. i`ve just opened this bag of "bones" and theres enough meat left on the bone to do a decent soup with so i have stuck them all in the slowcooker and will pick the meat off later
. i think next time i fancy making soup i will def be popping in for some more bones for the dog as it looks like i will be able to get a decent meal out of them for myself for 12p!! then of course the dog can have a go on them after i`ve finished with them
:rotfl: bargain for 12p!!
