Rather than throw away almost a whole loaf of bread i have made it into bread crumbs.

Can anyone tell me what i can do with them apart from making chicken nuggets and breaded mushrooms please  .

Can they be used for bulking something or other out?

    Thank you

You can make stuffing with breadcrumbs-sage and onion stuffing, dead easy, sage, onions and breadcrumbs. Or if you cheat like I do, I buy cheap packet stuffing and add extra breadcrumbs-it bulks the stuffing out and everyone in our house prefers it with the extra breadcrumbs.

Can't you switch the thermostat for the heating off but still have the hot water? We can with our CH

You would think that you could but I have tried and asked the gas man when he did the annual check when we first bought the house.

He said you couldn't do that with our system, think it's about 12 or so years old.

Can't afford a new system and the insurance only covers us for new if the one is totally *nackered!

Hi everyone it's taken a while but i've finally reached the end of the thread and its brill. I love it. There are so many good ideas some of which i already do and alot of which i dont but will be. As my mum always says "you learn something new every day" and i have learned loads. Keep the ideas coming peeps.
Sb44 my ch is the same as yours. I thought there was something wrong with ours but apparently not. So every time we run the hot water our radiatior get warm too. I've turned my rads off but after i've done my washing i'll put my wet clothes on rads first then jump in shower, so while im getting washed my clothes are geting dry (my rads stay warm for ages so most clothes t-shirts baby vests etc dry really quick). Not exactly saving money but as there's nothing i can do about it other then get new boiler which i cant afford i thought i'd try and make the most of it.

I'm glad you said that about your CH as I am sure some people think you don't know how to work your own system when you tell them what you can't do with it!

    :)

So much for having the solar bag outside today, it's been chucking it down since just after lunchtime.

Sorry - Our system is about 30yrs old and still going strong - touch wood. Didn't realise that things can change so much.

We can only get hot water if we also have the central heating on so I have to make sure all of the radiators are switched off manually if I want water when the weather is hot.

So I bought one of those solar showers you get to take camping today from Netto for £2.99.

You fill the bag with up to 20 litres (5 gallons) of water, leave it in the sun and after about 3 hours you have hot water which can be up to 58 degrees.

I am going to leave it out in the sun tomorrow (hoping that we get some) and bring it in and fill the washing up bowl with it.

I was just thinking about one of them today and wondering "maybe.....". Er....quick query - I dont know how hot 58 degrees is? Anyone know what 58 degrees Fahrenheit is in Celsius please (so I can work out whether that means warm, hot or scorch yer bum off).

Yep, we would qualify as we get working tax credits but the warm front woman told us it would be replaced but it has to be broken which ours isn't unfortunately.

    :(

We do have gas cover but they would only replace the boiler if absolutely neccessary.
