Someone needs to tell Morrison's then. I saw them selling yeast the other day with a yellow sticker - first time I've ever seen it.

But isn't some yogurt a live culture -- and that's sold?

    Sell it in my Morrisons!

Last night we had burgers for dinner. Instead of buying the normal burger bread we bought a packet of 6 crusty white rolls which were reduced to 32 pence so we saved a few pennies there.

No exactly sneaky but in December we have really odd meals as I use up all the bits and pieces in the freezer and cupboards. We don't have a proper 'roast' at all in December and we enjoy Xmas dinner all the more for being deprived!:p

I've done this all my married life (36yrs) and my kids always say they enjoy these meals best of all:rotfl: :rotfl: When I was a kid a plate of egg and chips was a regular meal but nowadays it is viewed as a treat!:D

kingshir - yes, we're also currently trying to indulge in Ready, Steady Cook type meals as we try to run our freezer down and roasts are off the menu in December too. The trouble is that the various organisations we belong to all have some kind of Christmas lunch or foodie/buffet/nibbles get-together and by the time we've eaten our way through these, we often don't feel like a cooked meal, so the freezer is diminishing more slowly than planned.

On the subject of burgers, Mr T sometimes do big venison burgers in packs of 2, and if Im particularly poor I'll squish and re-mould them into 5 burgers, of different sizes for me DH and the kids. Once or twice I have mixed a normal burger in to make it go further.

Also, 12 bovril cubes cost less than 12 oxo cubes.

Hi all, I have been saving the pennies today by getting the Christmas decorations down from the loft and use what I have. Def. not buying any more in the half price sales this year.Using the wrapping paper and cards bought in last years sales. Even found a new cake band to put around the Christmas cake. I have offered DD some decorations for her flat too. I want to reduce the boxes I have to put back in the loft.
