    Hi julie_d,

Hope you have saved a few more pennies today. I made a search for the calender but nothing came up. In which thread and forum can I find it in?

Hi Becky and everyone, today I have been saving the pennies by having a cook in this morning. Cooking meals in advance for the next 2 days so that when I finnish work I just have to heat up portions for oh and me. The other 2 adult DD's just help themselfs to what I have put in the fridge. It works for us as people are in/out at diffrent times.

I have also been wrapping up gifts with the Christmas paper I found in the loft.
One thing I wrapped that I thought was realy nice was a SC and I tipped a whole tin of Quality Street in the bowl bit and then put it back in the box. Sh.... she will be surprized!

The calender I have right here. In the bottom right hand corner it does say www.moneysavingexpert.com I think I printed it out a month or 2 back.It was in a thread...someone started....I would guess it was on old style as I am often on here. It has a pale blue background with white border. It is 12 sheets of A4 paper. On the right hand side it has a title "OS MONEY SAVING TIPS" then a list of all things we should be doing that month. On the left it has a picture and title " Have you tried Twink's world famous hob nobs? ( no recipy though) and under the picture the calender for January.
I printed it off and put the sheets of paper back to back in clear plastic wallets. Red ribbon is threaded through the holes at the top.

I wonder if we ask on OS someone will find it for us? will try.

I had a battery go in my watch a few months back. I found a pack of about 25 batteries (5 x 5 different types for watches, calculators etc) for a quid from a pound shop. Sure enough, one fitted and my watch is working again :D.

I think the market trader said that you shouldn't tamper with watches because if its under warranty, this will invalidate it, and if the watch is in anyway water resistant, it will need a new seal once the back has been opened. But a jeweller told me after getting a battery fitted in a water resistant watch, that I shouldn't use it for swimming etc as the seal will never be as good as when it was first sealed.

This is one reason why I have a citizen eco-drive watch that runs off of light. Never need to change the batteries. So no messing about and means you don't have to rush around getting batteries. Also no batteries to put in land fill.

Starting costs are approx £60 + mine was wedding present about 8 years ago and still going strong.

Now, I could be completely imagining this, but when I was little, I'm sure my Nan had a watch that was motion charged (or however you say it) so I presume the kinetic energy in your daily movements kept the battery topped up?

She could of course have been pulling my leg.. I was around 6-7 at the time :o

I've got an automatic watch that self winds, but if it stops (if I haven't worn it for a while) I can wind it up to give it a kick start.

It's NOT a moneysaver - it was blummin' expensive () but it's 40 years old and still going strong.

    She certainly wasn't :D

You *can* get special stands for automatic watches - you strap the watch to it and it rotates to make sure the watch stays *charged*.

Mine seems to be just fine overnight - but if I leave it off for a few days (e.g. a long weekend or a holiday) it does need resetting.

Edited to add a picture :)
