when both my watches batteries died on the same day I asked OH about new batteries as did not want to make the trip to nearest town (20 mile sround trip plus cost of parking) and pay around £5 per watch,he has ordered me some online at a cost of £1 each
.........don't know where from (it was a firm that also sold office) but try a google search.
It will take him a couple of minutes to change them for me,something he is quite capable of doing despite a market trader who used to supply the battery for me saying you should not tamper with the watch(could he of been protecting his own interests???????)0 -
Talking of stamps, if you see one of those stamp booklets things lying on the pavement, check it to see if it is just the cover, twice I have found almost a whole book of stamps just lying there. I suppose someone has used one while going to the letterbox and then missed their pocket when putting them away.0

Someone mentioned calendars - a really good tip is to use the pictures for framed pictures - depending on the calendar they could even make brilliant presents!
I made my friends daughter framed bagpuss pics from my old bagpuss calendar.Dead cute.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I just wanted to share with you what happened to me today and if you are in the same situation you might save yourself more than a few pennies.
I recieved my first pay from my new employer today. I gave the payroll department my P45 so I just assumed that I would get put on to the correct tax code but I overheard some colleagues talking about that their tax seemed high and like me they had received their first pay today. Anyway I went to look at my payslip and I had been charged emergency tax (tax code BR) so the company had ignored using my tax code on my P45. My work colleagues had also been charged the BR rate.
After having rung the inland revenenue, they will now write to my employer and let them know what tax code I should be on so this will all be corrected on my next pay and I shall be getting the money back next month.
I have learnt an important lesson today by never assuming anything and always check your payslip properly. It might be worth checking yours too.
BeckyNo toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

I put some value goods into brand labelled bags as O/H can be quite brand fussy. This can include Asda teabags into Yorkshire tea box, value biccys go straight into the biccy tin and value oven chips go straight into a McCains bag I have kept. He doesn't notice the difference at all.
I have just joined this site and i just love this artical above, it was part of a longer post, from this thread, absolutely brilliant,

If you are at home in the morning during the week. BBC 1 is running a programme between 9.15 and 10 am called Rip Off Britain, lots of useful information being covered there about utility bills, the difference between 0845, 0844, 0800 phone numbers etc. It was shown for the first time this morning while I was doing my ironing. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up.
