Sneaky ways to save the pennies

I think a sense of proportion is needed here. Stop all jumping on the poor girl because she mentioned an old lady re-used stamps
.... the world is hardly going to stop rotating because of this !!

I can see your point and I must say I've never even thought about checking to see if a stamp has been franked but does that mean if you're in Tesco and there's a glitch which meant you got something cheaper would you refuse to buy it because you're benefitting from someone's mistake?
For example there was a glitch on Morrison's offer on pringles, buy 1 get 2 free. If you bought the slighlty smaller tubes the till automatically took the price of 2 larger tubes off. Would it be wrong to buy the smaller tubes and take advantage of the glitch?
I said my opinion and was clear that it was my opinion and that I didn't feel I needed to say anymore.
Any new tips anyone? Could use some more pennies in the run up to Christmas
One thing worth checking out if you work for a local council (and maybe other employers I don't know) is whether you have some kind of employee suggestion scheme, have made 2 suggestions since working at my office and have been given £60 for my trouble, bonus!God is good, all the time

Thanks to Mirry for posting about reusing unfranked stamps and also to those who gave their views opposing it. I've saved unfranked stamps for years to use at a later time & never thought twice about it. My conscience must have been seared as I never once questioned it. I save franked stamps and donate to charities, I go back to stores if under charged & give back money if given too much but not once have I thought of using unfranked stamps as stealing. Would I go to a post office and ask to pay? Should I? Talking to myself here, but really am grateful for the discussion because the more I ponder on it the more I'm reticent to continue my practise but still undecided. Perhaps I'll call the Post Office...0

This morning I received an unfranked stamp so peeled it off to see if the tamper proof stamps work ( re Pink-Winged's post) and they don't! I was able to peel it off with the inserts remaining in place. Incidentally if Royal Mail are investing so much in new technology why do so many stamps miss being franked. I regularly receive letters with unfranked stamps - far more than I used to.0

well I am pleased its raised an obviously important subject.
I have been a member of this forum for a long time , never had a cross word with anyone , so to tell me this forum is all about money saving was a laugh :rotfl:.
Thank you for all the mature comments , I myself have thought long and hard about re using stamps and personally feel its not something I would feel comfortable doing, after this discussion. However I make no judgement about others doing it and have no sympathy for royal mail at all.
Last week I purchased ( yes purchased) two books of second class stamps , and was confused about why the stamp had two sections that came apart , so picked up the tiny sticky bits left behind and stuck them on the envelope with the stamp  lol.

Thanks Mirry, I agree, I think it was mostly a very calm discussion of the issue and I am glad that I didn't hurt your feelings.
You must be due your third star soon looking at your post and thanks count; it is obvious from your thanks total that you have been making a great contribution to the forum, long may it continueGod is good, all the time

I've saved a bit of money by buying one big, good value roll of wrapping paper and using it for every gift - babies, children, adults. Certainly beats paying £2 odd at each occasion.
A cheery bright striped wrapping paper does for everyone.

I have one massive roll of gift wrap for Christmas presents that I shall use for stuff for the family. I'm not going to buy paper for the kids stockings, but will use magazines etc etc. It all goes in the bin anyway and they have really nice biiiiiig stockings that I made with my knitting machine when they were very small. (now 16 and 19, might have left dd off the stockings this year, but she missed last year as she was working in Mexico at Christmas)[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. It's been interesting reading all the different views about re-using stamps and also seeing how people with a common aim, money saving, have different views on how to do so.
As I said earlier I've never personally re-used stamps but I must admit I don't see how it's different to re-using anything?
Someone buys a stamp from the PO, uses it, sends it to someone else and they use it. Are they cheating the PO out of a sale?
Someone buys a book, reads it, gives it to someone else and they read it. Are they cheating Amazon out of a sale?
Anyhoo, back to moneysaving tips.I used to spend a fortune on kitchen towel to wipe up spills but now I buy packs of cheap value j-cloths and use that instead, I stick them in the washing machine and re-use them until they start dropping to bits.
