Well done Mr Thrifty for joining in. Now can you come up with an idea that no one else has thought of?

At the risk of sounding I don't know what.... I was brought up to not say anything if I couldn't think of something 'nice' to say.

I've always been very pleased that people are really friendly with each other on this area of the forum.

Everyone is just messing about and having a bit of fun, I would think folk would see that!

Errr....not necessarily. I didnt think much of that comment either.

I think the thing is that maybe some people might "say things in fun" quite genuinely - not honestly realising that in many other circles of Society (ie besides their friends) that those comments would be seen as hurtful.

It partly depends on what one is used to - I can recall noticing a comment a poster made one time that they had obviously heard thrown frequently at them as a child - and I thought "no wonder they keep coming on with nasty comments themselves if they heard those sort of comments regularly as a child...that explains it. They may honestly think - mistakenly - that that sort of comment is normal". But there are still no excuses for not realising that MOST people dont talk so harshly to each other.

has anyone ever had any ill effects from using make up long after the use by dates which seem very short as not wearing make up every day mine lasts a lot longer than recomended so I hesitate to use for even longer by mixing up etc

I've never had any problems either when using old make up. The only item that I throw away after a year or so is mascara.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

Re old lipstick - believe it or not I've still gone some unused ones which are 25 years old ! (OH used to work for a pharmaceutical/cosmetic manufacturer years ago so often got test samples for nothing). I'm still working my way through them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. (I probably hold the world record for having the oldest cosmetics!). However, if you're a person who still uses block mascara and you use saliva to moisten the block before applying to your eyes or eyelashes, I would think it could become pretty bug ridden so wouldn't recommend that.

Just taking your advice and quoting this post Ceridwen in case you choose to delete it at a later point. I realise that you have demanded by pm that I no longer post on the same threads as you but I WILL respond to this when I have calmed down.

  • have not had chance to read all pages.. so this may be duplicating and idea.

We changed to a king size duvet for our standard double bed. The difference for the same tog rating has made quite a difference. I reckon the fact that it covers us both and hangs over all sides creating a 'seal' means that we don't lose the warmth each time one of us shifts.

LOL, don't have that problem, I have a lightweight single duvet all of my very own and dh has a much heavier one as he needs more warmth. So he doesn't pinch the covers!
