Brilliant my sentiments exactly, I have far better ways of saving money after reading this thread than have to deal with a man again lol

actually me getting rid of my husband has been an amazing money saver! all my bills are caught up on, i've been able to get nice christmas presents for everyone this year, we eat reasonably well and we have even had a small holiday and some day trips... this just didn't happen quite like that with the ex hmmmmmm ;)

does ditching him count as a very sneaky way to save money? :p

I've seen people give warnings about cooking hardboiled eggs with anything else. You need to be careful about the eggshells being contaminated with chicken poop - remember where they've been when being laid ;).

I think you would be okay though because boiling water will kill most germs .
Certainly in pasta cooking you would most likely pour the water away afterwards anyway.

Isn't the stuff on Mushrooms Mushroom compost aka Chicken $h*t? That's what I was told.

I'm not very careful about cleaning mushrooms unless they look really bad, so I must have eaten plenty of Chicken $h*t in my time. :rotfl:We don't get upset tummies here as a rule.

Thanks Ollie I did always wonder why my Mum said eggshells were 'poisonous.' She kept a special egg pan. I agree that boiling water would kill any germs but what about the solids, if there are any?

if you see whoopsied mash, buy it and make it into soup! Potato, carrot, root mash, parsnips etc. Always works! Usually fry an onion off, add some other veg.herbs and steam (say leeks for leek and potato), then throw the mash in and add stock. Makes blending far easier. The luxury stuff has cream in which iis ace too - gives soup a luxury taste.

I have saved a fortune . Even bags of chopped carrots etc - if you get them for 25p and add some lentils stock an onion and some herbs = tasty nutritious soup! I usually get at least 4 portions out of a bag of carrots or carton of mash. PLus usually.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi all, savings today, well I have been out most of the day earning pounds, yea....come home and no one has sorted out the ashes for the coal fire so no heating on. I have now cleaned the grate out ready for tomorrow evening.
Tonight I am trying to save pennies by reading Martins words and getting quotes for house insurance... will take days as I take my time.
Took a packed lunch to work.

Re the eggs cooked with pasta or pea's...I can see there would be a problem if the eggs were unclean on the shell but mine are supermarket best value Asda trays for houses that cook and bake.
Anyone heard of the vanishing eggs? sometimes I boil eggs about 6 to make a sandwich, maybe use 2 and put the rest sliced in the fridge and by the next day they have vanished? Family help them selfs as it is a change from meat or cheese.

on holiday 1 year I tried to use water from boling eggs to wash the pots in and my dear old mum said not to as it would give me warts:eek::eek::eek:
  • I have started buying 18p Asda smart price bath foam to fill up my hand wash pumps that I was buying at a £1 a go. I think I have filled 5/6 bottles so thats a saving of £5.82. :D It works just as well just smells different. I thought it might be more drying on the hands but I haven't noticed.
