I have started buying 18p Asda smart price bath foam to fill up my hand wash pumps that I was buying at a £1 a go. I think I have filled 5/6 bottles so thats a saving of £5.82. :D It works just as well just smells different. I thought it might be more drying on the hands but I haven't noticed.

Bath foam concentrate is usually diluted 1 capfull/ bath full of warm water - you might find that by the end of the week (esp. if used several times a day) your hands will start to show signs of irritataion.
Asda smartprice shower gel is 8p a container.

Peacocks are selling arm warmers which I thought a bit strange.

M&S have these too - I had a good look at the 'little legwarmers' near the gloves because I couldn't work out what they were - then saw the gap for the thumb and twigged.
    They're cashmere and (prepare for a shock moneysavers) they're £18.00 a pair
    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
and they'd be a doddle to knit...

I had to get my dictionary out to find out what kudos means. The book says honour and glory. Well I don't know about that but thank you for saying it.

no worries and you're quite welcome! and just to check i have been using the right word all these years (i'd be mortified if i hadn't been :o:p) here are a few definitions i found online:

Definitions of kudos on the Web:
    • praise: an expression of approval and commendation; "he always appreciated praise for his work"
      wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
    • Kudos (, often ), from the Greek κῦδος (not to be confused with κύδος "taunt"), kydos, (literally "that which is heard of") means "fame" and "renown" resulting from an act or achievement. Extending "kudos" to another individual is often done as a praising remark. ...
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kudos

    kudos

Dictionary: ku·dos ('dōz', -dōs', -dŏs', kyū'-)

    n.
Acclaim or praise for exceptional achievement.

so kudos for to you for learning new money saving tricks each day and kudos to me for using kudos appropriately all these years :rotfl:

I've been doing this for years, though I use the 'more expensive' Creme Bath which is (or was) around 60p a litre bottle. The white one smells lovely and my hands are fine. You could always mix it down with water and make it go further still ;)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Me too, no problems even with the more delicate family members I'm glad to say.
  • this was mentioned on the oldstyle programme on TV
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
  • Yes, yes! Posh creme bath foam (79p)as shower gel (poured into a branded bottle!) lasts about 3 months with daily use and smart price shower gel (8p a bottle) as hand wash in the kitchen. I have been doing this for ages and have found no ill effects at all.

I have definitely saved a lot of money this year by using up my old nearly empty jars/tubes/bottles which I used to keep in my bathroom cabinett. I hardly ever go in to Boots these days because I find it so tempting to buy toiletries. I found in my bathroom a tube of weather protection cream which I have hardly ever used and don't know why I bought it in the first place this has now become my face mask because the cream is so rich and it seems to work as well as other face masks.

I also save money by mixing my foundation cream with my facial moisturiser, this works brilliantly for me since I have never liked the feeling of wearing foundation but in my current workplace I feel I have to wear it because it is so warm where I work and this stops my skin getting so dry.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

I normally use No7 lipstick with the clear stuff one end and lippy the other. Its really annoying that the lip sponge that comes with it doesnt reach the bottom or the very toop at all and Ive always disgarded it but now I cut the holder in half to use every bit. reading below does anyone know if you can melt 'long lasting' lippy into a pot to use with a brush?

    xxp00

I cant answer your question but I too use this type of lip'stick' ~ I do know that the Max Factor version comes in a tube that has a little stopper in the end that can be prised out by (VERY CAREFULLY) using a slim blade. Extreme caution is required though as the little stopper sometimes goes flying & you wouldn't want that lippy to get on your clothes!

I mixed up my own creme blusher last night too after buying several different ones that weren't quite the right shade. I just mashed 'em all up in the old blusher pot... At least the wrong purchases weren't wasted!
