Did you pay for the tea to begin with? Also, were you at the Carlisle Wetherspoons? I remember being stranded there for several hours as the trains were late lol.

My mum has started beating - and I don't mean my dad with a pan......I mean on a shoot. Anyway she brought me 2 grouse ( I think thats what they are) or they may be pheasants. I had the same last year when she did beating. She also brought me 2 large ducks that had been shot (never had them before).......HELP. What do I do with ducks / Any advice. They are still whole, not been bled and obviously feathers the lot on!!!! I am going to have a look on the net but any advice on preparing them to cook and also recipes would be most helpful. I am thinking that maybe I have to hang them and cut the necks to let them bleed. The problem is I will not be able to cook with them straight away and will need to freeze the meat as my kitchen is out of action with builders swarming all over it for the next couple of days.
Any help would be much appreciated. Debra:confused:

Hi all, just thinking of my plans for today that save on spending :rotfl:.
I have washed up in the sink as we do not own a dishwasher, saving electric.
Need to put the washing machine on so I can get the laundry on the line to wind dry.
Bake some cakes for packed lunches next week.
Peel and cook some free cooking apples to make a crumble
    Go blackberrry picking.
Pick a few flowers from the garden to put around the house.
Open windows and doors to let the air in, no need for air freshner
A general hover and wipe around with a microfibre cloth.

Question? when I have finnished using up all the flash/stardrops cleaners do I just use 50/50 white viniger and water in a spray bottle to clean bathrooms/floors and wipe over surfaces to be more MSE?

Question? I have just bought a slow cooker from Tesco £12.65 in a knock down sale. If I put a casserole in it for 6/8 hours, would it not use more electric than in the oven for 2 hours? I think it must be to do with the area size as an oven is a bigger aera to heat up ?
I went round all my appliances and worked out how much each was costing me per hour to run.

    My oven (electric) was 20p/hour

    My slow cooker was 2p/hour

trumpetrousers - sorry I don't have any experience with stripping game birds which have been shot. If you Google "preparing game birds which have been shot" or something similar, you'll probably find some advice on the internet. But don't forget to save the feathers for your compost heap!
  • Compost heap! Great Idea.....maybe pillows:beer:

Not quite the laundry, but I always pop the dishcloth in the dishwasher while it's on.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
