Beauty treatments: local colleges with beauty/hair departments give cheap services to train in the trainee beauticians/hardressers in term time, so find your local one and enjoy some pampering!
I've used my local college for years - £6.50 for a cut, full head colour with highlights, and blow dry:D0 -

You squeeze the toilet roll so that it doesn't spin around when pulling on the paper, thereby using less.0

Invest oin a bread maker - they can be had for £30-ish now but if you use it rather than buying loaves it will pay for itself in no time. Try to get one with a dough-only setting as then you can also make rolls etc.
Someone gave me a bread maker, but the only thing is that the size of the inside bit is small meaning that I only get very small loaves of bread (and the agitator at the bottom sticks in and needs to be removed). Can you buy ones that make larger loaves? Please call me 'Pickle'

I always ask for the staff to wrap my leftovers up for me to take home. I don't think the staff care either way as long as I leave a tip and have been a pleasant customer!!:D
I will always take a voucher will me too, if I can find any:p
oh i agree but i have on more than one occasion been in places that said they didn't have anything suitable for me to take it home in! (don't they have foil?!)
i ask first, if they give me that line out comes the bags, i have no shame
i too keep vouchers with me too and make mental notes when in town about any promotions i see even if i won't be using them anytime soon, you never know when you might get an opportunity!0 -
Good Morning. Up nice and early today. Just adding sugar and wine yeast to the rosehips . I've already done the elderberries and blackberries and boy it really does smell winey in here! The only down side is the wine won't be ready for many months but still i can dream!!! Hick Hick.
Well off scouring for demi johns this weekend. I've priced them up at the brewing shop and they are £5.99....Absolutely not!!!! and thats not including the plop noise thing on the top. So my mission as there are no Jumble Sales because its the summer I am going to look at car boots and see if i can spy some and am sure the price tag will be alot more appealing. I will keep you posted. If anybody knows out there in the instance I am not successful in getting demi johns...where I can get them cheaper than the brew shop.

Wilkinsons glass demijohns are £5.49. I have just acquired 4 from Freecycle.
I also have several 1 gall Better Bottles. They are a sturdy plastic with a screw top and a hole into which to fit the airlock. I bought mine from Hop and Grape and they are much cheaper than glass. However, I love the 5 gall fermenters with taps.
I live in North Yorkshire and the elderberries and rosehips are not ready here yet and I can't find any blackberries. i have recently bottle 5 galls of last year's elderberry wine. Gonna keep it til Christmas to give it a bit more time to mature.
I set off 5 galls of plum wine this week from 21lbs of them that someone at work gave me.
Happy brewing0
