If you see fresh coriander reduced in price (My local Waitrose sometimes has it for as little as 19p) buy it and stick it in the freezer. You can then just cut off with scissors directly into your curry, however much you like.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

So instead of 1 bag per cup each time, its 2 bags in the pot for the 4 cups. Am also considering switching to loose tea and using a strainer each time. The used leaves can go in the compost too.
We used to spread the used teabags under bushes in the garden as anti-snail mulch. No need to worry about the paper, it rots down too.0 -
I saw on a TV programme that soaking your feet for 10/15 minutes in cheap mouthwash each night will clear up atheletes foot in 4/5 weeks.
LG
oh that's pure dead brilliant that is! i shall have to try this, i've had problems with athletes foot for years. whilst i have had some success with something called 'miracle foot' it's from the states so when this tube runs out i'm stuck again

I use disposable razors for underarms and find that if I just do it every other day or so without water, the razor lasts ages longer. My daughter does her legs and then throws the razor away so I grab all her cast offs, wash and air dry , put away for my own use and rarely buy any .I think leg hair is finer and so needs a much keener blade.0

Spent a couple of hours reading this thread lastnight - then fell asleep dreaming about recycling old t-shirts and sweatshirts:
T-shirts were cut into squares and turned into tote bags with the 'short' sleaves becoming pockets.
Sweatshirts were cut up and used to make patchwork throws with the sleaves being turned into carrier bag holders/dispensers
AND I DONT EVEN SEW!!
What are you people doing to me???
LOL

i had a good frugal day out today so i thought i'd share with all my OS friends here
my ex husband let me in on the fact that the university's psychology dept here runs experiments (no torture involved!) for cash and you don't actually have to be a student to sign up. he gave me the link to the website where the experiments are listed showing qualifcations etc
so since my daughter is with him for two weeks (we home educate so we don't have to stay within the school schedule, besides she's taught 7 days a week all year round anyway!) i thought i'd take this opportunity to try and grab a few.
i was able to schedule 2 studies for this afternoon with half an hour between them so that made it worth the walk into town.
the first one was supposed to last an hour but only ran 30 minutes but i still got paid the full 5 quid for it! this left me with an hour before the next one so i walked around town checking out the charity shops and picked up a few things. i also suddenly realised how famished i was (hands were shaking) so i splurged and bought a 2 quid sandwich from boots.
i went back and did the second experiment, this one did indeed take the full 90 minutes but again i was paid in cash, 8 quid this time. then i remembered that our local subway has an offer on between 4-7pm on weekdays (i'm never around for this normally) of BOGOF on their subs so i decided i would get myself 2 6inch subs, a very rare treat indeed.
anyway, in total i earned 13 quid today
between charity shop buys and food for lunch and dinner i spent the following:
Boots Sandwich for lunch £2
Subway dinner £2.99
From Charity shops:
Hooded fleece for daughter £1.49
Snow Leopard Print hat and scarf set for daughter £3.25
Ultimate Card & Dice set Brand New £1.25
Who's the Richest game Brand New 99p
Monopoly Deal card game £1.25
Bratz hatbox travel case with bratz accessories excellent condition £1.95
Charles Rennie MacIntosh Stain Glass Style Oil Burner set Brand New £2.30
Total earned £13 - total spent 17.47 = -£4.47
the way i look at it is that for 2 hours of my time that i'd have spent doing nothing of any particular importance for no money, i earned £13 so i've subtracted that from my total and i view everything as costing me a meer £4.47 for 2 meals, a winter jumper, hat and scarf for my daughter, 3 games for her home education, a carry case for either her doll things or art supplies as a gift and another gift for her grandmother for christmas who just loves CRM!
i also walked to town and back which (according to my spark people page) burned off 476 calories which is more than just one of the sandwiches i bought :T
i'd say that wasn't a bad day all and all!
and to top it off, i also put £2 into my savings jar, because i kept wanting to buy sweets and passed by several places that i started to go into but resisted by thinking how much more i'd enjoy that money towards a special day out with my girl vs a moment on the lips and more fat on my hips :rotfl:0 -
It is blackberry time again. The hegrows and land of Britain has lots of food for free.
My daughter saw blackberries in a bowl in the kitchen and said wow, that looks good - she thought I had spent £2.99 for a little box in the supermarket. I said "no" it is a free pick your own from the hedgeprehaps, I should have kept quiet. She still ate them.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
