My boys all get new socks in their Xmas stockings, and each of them gets a different "character" - Star Wars, Mr Men, Spiderman, Bob the Builder, etc. That way I can easily tell (and so can they) who owns which socks.

Our family (apart from DD) seem to wear just black socks. So what I do is to sew a few coloured stitches into the top of the socks, white for DS1, blue for DS2, and no stitch for me. DH has black sports-type socks, ironic as he's not the least bit sporty :D. I try to buy the same style of socks each time so that when one gets a hole in it I can pair it up with the same style. Also as they're all the same colour it doesn't really matter if they don't match exactly as no-one sees them close-up.

Went into Aldi today and bought some Powerclean spray for bathrooms 79p. Just as good as the most expensive cleaners and took all the soap etc of the shower screen. Even smells the same.

  • I have started putting my washing up liquid in a pump dispenser bottle it is surprising how little you need to use and I only have to buy a new bottle once a month!

What washing up liquid do you use? I always use Fairy and one bottle lasts between 4-6 months and this is a normal size bottle. I get it when it's on offer. The "NHS regulation" liquid we use at work is runnier than water :rotfl:

  • I always use Fairy liquid and buy when on offer - however, I have just bought Daisy brand and that seems quite good too. Only prob is mil staying at mo - she always buys weak stuff at home and insists on doing our washing up - squirts my Daisy stuff in like it was her weak stuff. This bottle is running low already.

lol my mum always put far too much fairy in and we had bubbles everywhere:rotfl:OH will only use fairy as kind to his hands ,and it does last the best
  • We use Tesco's. Seems to do the job.

Changing the subject slightly, before we went away, I peeled all our wilting carrots, sliced them and put them straight in the freezer. All our other veg went in the fridge and it seems to have survived the extra week ok, so I've saved myself a bag of carrots, some potatoes and a cabbage.
