Sneaky ways to save the pennies

Found myself doing something weird on Sunday. I saved the fat from roasting our chicken pieces (reduced), in an old cup. It's sitting in the fridge now, waiting for me to do something with it.
The trouble is, I'm not sure whether I want to eat all those hard animal fats. Equally, I don't want to waste them. Now what?0 -

Hi Patchwork Quilt, I always save mine and roast pototoes, parsnips etc in it. Much better than putting down the drain!! If it`s been around too long put it out for the birds! The Grass may look greenerbut it`s always going to take just as much mowing

you could collect some pine cones, and dip them in the fat to hang out for the birdsTrying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

Those elastic bands are also dangerous for animals. Cats often like playing with and eating them. I have a friend who's a vet tech and she says they often have to operate on cats and dogs to remove elastic bands.
It has always baffled me why dogs eat this rubbish.

Never wrap left overs in foil, always use cling film. If you use foil, it's very hard to tell what it is, but if it's looking at you from under the cling film (or reused plastic bag) you are more likely to use it up......Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I saved some money with dinner today.
Had a pack of 2 chicken breasts and instead of using 1 each prob used just over half each for yesterdays dinner as idd a dish with rice and veg.
Today I was going to bing the rest of the chicken left with veg to make chicken stew albeit it rather light on the chicken!
Anyway, I then thought 'why am I using this chicken'. OH likes veggie meals as do I so I just did a veg and butter bean casserole with a dumpling each. Therefore 2 chicken breasts so far has done one meal for 2 and will get another meal if I do a 'skimpy chicken stew' in the next few days!
Coming on here really has made me rethink times when I have been extravagent so thank you all!!0 -
I never use cling film it doesn't like me !!! I just cover stuff with plates or plastic bags £1 for a100 in my local shop.
Very pleased with my meat stretching at the moment. I got a vacuum packed pork joint from sainsburys half price at the moment £4.49. Roast for sunday, sandwiches monday and made 2 big curries with the rest. One we ate last night and another, plenty for 3 or 4 in the freezer.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Patchwork Quilt - I stir this warm liquid fat into a bowl ful of dry oats and use it to feed the birds. They absolutely love it in this bitterly cold weather as they use up an awful lot of energy flying around searching for food.0
