I was given a digital radio for Christmas. It is extremely tempermental in levels of interference and anywhere it works, is just not convenient. Ie. kitchen windowsill which is too narrow to hold it! However my little portable radio from the charity shop (£5) works a treat anywhere you use it!

We do have a lot of trees around so I expect this is the problem. I have to have Sky because of this. If radio goes digital only I will not be too happy.

If you have digital Sky you can get radio through that. I listen to Classic FM on the television.

Perhaps not so useful as you can't carry the television around from room to room :o But you will be able to record the radio from the television.

I object strongly to the fact that Radio 4 went off long wave as it's the only reliable way of getting the radio around here - mountains. I can't have a satellite dish - planning permission denied all around here. I'm stuck - and I still pay my TV licence despite having coloured snow instead of pictures and hissy radio .... don't get me started.. *grrrr*

Please explain in words of one syllable how to do this (I'm not very technically minded)

Would you not be better off getting rid of TV? If you cant watch it is there a point in having one?

Well, if you have Sky digital, and for example wanted to record a programme from Classic FM, you would choose channel 0106 in order to get Classic FM. You would get a mainly blue screen with programme details and then you would record the programme in exactly the same way as you would record a film.

If you have Sky Digital there are a lot of radio stations on there, with comedy programmes and all sorts. I have recorded items from the radio, as if I was recording a film, and it has been satisfactory.

I hope that makes sense. You are receiving the signal through the television so you can video the radio because the signal is coming through the television, so you can treat the radio signal in the same way you would treat the signal for a television channel like BBC1.

Perhaps someone more eloquent can explain it better. :o

    Dear Gunsandbanjos & Juliejim

The reason I keep my television is because although it's fuzzy I can still see it well enough to make out what's going on, I have a member of the family who HAS to see the news/NewsNight etc and have you ever tried telling the TV police that you don't have a television?! It took 3 years of constant hassle last time and although it's not very moneysaving to be paying for a bad service I tend to regard it as protection money!!

I've no idea whether we shall continue to have television when it all goes off analogue, but it seems a r*ddy nerve of the government and broadcasters to be telling me constantly how good for me this changeover is going to be! Much clearer picture, no subscription, wider choice - nope, not where I live... but then, I'm in the five percent of the country who won't be getting the Beeb, despite having paid for it via the licence.

Yours, in a decidedly cross mood [not at you so much, more the "powers that be"]

Does anyone know if you can mix stardrops and bleach?

As oposed to the star/vingar/water mix, star, bleach and water for more stubburn stains? I cant find the rest of the star range anywhere so the startips is out of the question.

I was washing up the other day and my right hand glove got a leak in. This keeps happening as i am right handed and i'm left with various 'left hand gloves. I remembered that my mum would turn a spare 'left hand glove' inside out and wear it on here right hand...i tried this and it really does work.
