Has anyone got some advice for me please, re. a Moisturiser for Sensitive Skin?
I wore one yesterday, and my eyes were watering. It's called "No 7 Advanced Hydration Day Cream" and it's Hypo-allergenic, apparently
(and expensive too)
thanks in advance0 -
I was in Boots the other day and the lady recommended Eau Thermale products for sensitive facial skin. They don't contain chemicals or parabens and think they are on 3 for 2 right now. I have never tried them but will give them a go since on special offer.0

Hi I would recommend Aveeno cream. Quite expensive. It is sold in Boots.
Use it on my daughters dry skin.0 -
EagerLearner wrote: »Thanks GFN - I will see what happens when I get the goat milk beauty stuff ;o) Tempted too by the Healing Hands items but time will tell and also have loads of stuff arriving now... I went through stage last year of making my own stuff, spent loads on oils, then failed miserably... the cream was hard rather than the 'whipped' consistency I thought I might get!
Hence I still have loads of macadamia nut and jojoba oil which I now don't know what to do with! The jojoba is great as a sunday face treat though. Technically I should probably bin the lot as was a year ago but seems ok for now... any iead you ahve would be great!
Yeah, I am Brightonian, you too?
Yup, I live in Brighton as wellMaybe we should get together & start our own organic face cream business  There was a guy in the North Laine who did this, lovely hand made creams, oils & herbal things, but sadly he packed up. Maybe they have an online business now (if only I could remember the name... it will come to me......).
I use pure jojoba neat on my face as well, I think macadamia is richer, so could be used the same way. I have oils well over a year old that I still useI've never come to any harm but perhaps they lose their potency after a while? I will look up specific uses for macadamia oil, I'm sure it is rich in vitamin E.
BTW, the book I mentioned is called 'The Complete Illustrated Guide to Aromatherapy' & has everything in it, including making your own base cream! You're welcome to pop round & borrow itI find it useful for researching ingredients so I know what to look out for in creams I buy. I never tire of trialling face products so the goat's milk cream won't be my last :rotfl:
Edit: I found the guy who used to sell in the Laines (not that you need to buy any more stuff, but his products are really reasonable & excellent if I recall right) http://www.barefootherbs.co.uk/home.htmProud to be a moneysaver0 -

"hypo - allergenic " isnt worth the paper its written on as no manufacturer can guarantee that nobody is ever going to suffer a reaction., just in their trials the amount of reported reactions were below a set number.0 -
What a great thread. I too have dry sensitive skin. I have tried the following - Clarins, Clinque, YSL, Elizabeth Arden, Origins, Liz Earle, Eau Thermale, the list is absolutely endless. Basically none of the above suited my skin, caused bad irritations.
The only company i've found whose products don't irritate me are Elemis. I've even introduced several friends to this range (for different skin problems to mine) and they too wont touch anything else. Their moisturiser (pro-collagen marine cream) is currently their best seller, and it really is good stuff.
What I would recommend though is to buy it off QVC so that if it doesn't suit you, you can return it for a refund. By the way they have a 'today's special value' this Sunday so it may be worth to waiting till then. Once you know what you like good old Ebay to top up!
Another really good 'all rounder' essential for me is Bio Oil. It's great, add it to your bath, your face creams, put it on neat anywhere and everywhere. Boots are currently having it on special offer at the mo.
My hands are the biggest problem, they are really dry and NOTHING moisturises them. I've tried, Barielle, Shea Butter, Molton Brown, Nivea, Nutrogena, Eucerin, Oilatrum. Can anyone recommend a really rich hand cream?0 -
