If you've ever had an Indian dish with "sag" in it, probably spinach.

    I had spinach last night.

    Cooked spagetti

Chucked some garlic in a pan with a bit of olive oil. Washed spinach, dry, and chucked in on a high temp and stirred. Reduced temp and chucked in tin of chopped tomatoes and some mediterranean herbs.

Spagetti takes 10 mins so I started the spinach when the spag was 1/2 way through.

Drain spagetti. Chuck spinach & toms on top. Grated cheese on top of that if liked.

I believe a certain Mr Oliver is cooking something similar on an advert for a certain supermarket but I've been doing it for years - can't remember where I first saw it. Magazine probably. I have a preference for 10 minute recipes :D
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.
  • I have a bag sitting in my fridge too. I'll probably make some pea and spinach soup. I'll gently fry an onion then add a generous portion of frozen peas (and cooked potato if I have any leftovers) and some stock (got HM ham stock at the moment, but sometimes use HM chicken - or you could use a cube). Bring to boil and then after 10/15 mins of simmering add spinach. Cook for a further minute or two, add seasoning as necessary, then liquidise. Sorry it's not exact measures but I tend to make these things up as I go along!

Have just discovered how much I like spinach, but other than having it wilted with nutmeg I haven't done much with it, any ideas for me to make it into a meal?

Put some wilted spinach in a ramekin-type dish...make a depression in the middle and crack an egg into it...bake in oven til egg yolk is lighly set. Finish with a some parmesan shavings...yummy! Makes a nice starter or a light lunch. Don't forget..loads of nutmeg in the spinach!

Already we seem to have a lot of perpetual spinach growing, and we can't use it quick enough in salads so I'm thinking of spinach and ricotta cannelloni. Can you recommend a recipe? We did make the Jamie Oliver one once, but found the sauce too runny.

Or maybe there's another way to use spinach that I haven't thought of (apart from using it as a veg on its own)?

    Thanks guys,

    Hi soba,

This older thread might give you some ideas: Alternative Spinach Recipes?

I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

Recommend a spinach recipe? How about one without any spinach in it? Ugh - sorry, hate the stuff. Think I'd rather try an evaporated milk sandwich ... :D

Eggs benedict and green coloured pasta are springing to mind for me.
