Hi everyone, need advice as i have finally reached rock bottom. I posted on here a few months ago and since then have managed to get a second part time job.I still dont earn enought to pay everything each month never loan buy food etc. So far i have never missed a payment on anything by living off my credit cards but now they are maxed and a bit over the limits and i don't have any money at all to live on. Next Wed i am due to pay £75 to tesco credit card by arrangement i set up myself but i wont have anywhere near that to pay it. What is left of my overdraft now will cover the dds due out til Wed but then only £39 going in and i have to keep two children out of that too. Any advice on what to do as this is just one of many coming up from now on. Please help as i have no family to help and i cant sleep for worrying

Hi, I've just skim-read your other thread - I really feel for you, it can be tough being a single Mum and especially with debt because there just doesn't seem to be enough to go around.
Did you contact the CCCS?
I can't help thinking that you should be getting more in benefits - I'm not an expert though - I know you can't get Housing Benefit for help with a mortgage but could you get this?

Maybe someone with more knowledge could answer?0 -
Please contact one of the debt charities NOW. They are open until 8pm.

There are ways to sort this but you need their help.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks for replying to my post. I have to get some sleep soon as i am working a night shift later (my second job). I will phone cccs on monday as i can't cope anymore on my own. i did fill in one of their forms before regarding income and outgoings and it came up at £73 left for creditors. As i owe over £28000 in a loan at £12000 3 credit cards totalling just over £16000 a £700 overdraft and around £150 on catalogues i cant see any of them agreeing to a DMP. I have my house which i have been in since i was 5 and i am now 43 so you can imagine i would be devastated to lose it . My mortgage is around £43000 and i have a secured loan for £13000 thats without the interest. Such a mess so you can see i cant cope anymore.I barely do any food shopping anymore and manage on basics around £20 a week( for me plus 2 children) plus £10 petrol i need car for 2 jobs. My income is around £1340 and my outgoings nearly £1400 so everytime i walk in a shop i have a mild panic attack as i know i am spending money i don't really have.Crikey i could go on and on but i think thats all i can say for now before the tears start as usual. Will post again tomorrow when i wake up from nightshift. Thanks again sorry about going on a bit0

Definately back up what RAS says, if you have a mortgage keep paying that but any credit cards, unsecured loans, catalogues etc don't pay until you have spoken to one of the debt charities.
They will probably recommend something like a debt management plan and you can send token payments to them for this month. There is lots of help out there and the sooner you get in contact with one of them the quicker it will start.
Well done on recognising the problem0 -

I run my own DMP without a big organisation like CCCS behind me and on nearly 17,000 I pay £34 a month - it is hard to comprehend but a DMP is about readjusting the balance in your life.
You pay out all you need to live, clothes, hair cuts, save for emergencies, Christmas etc and then decide whats left over for creditors. You have probably lived so long paying these huge amounts you have lost that balance. Contacting CCCS will mean you keep yoru house!0 -
Hiya
You really are in a rotten situation.
Get some sleep now, phone CCCS as soon as you can.
In the short-term, pay the mortgage and secured loan and send everyone else £1 per month. There are letters here to send to the creditors, explaining that you are seeking help.
if you have time over the week-end, check out the freebies and comps sections on here, have a look at Money Saving Old style as well.
Also check
1. www.entitledto.com to see whther there is help you should be getting but are not at the moment.
2. Join your local www.freecycle.org group, like e-bay but you get the stuff for the cost of collecting it.
Take care and look after yourself. That is the ultimate priority. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I agree with everyone else. Phone cccs as soon as you can, it really helps to think that you have done something, and I found them really nice.
Re DMP we owed around 35000 when we started and were paying £109.00 per month, and everyone agreed to this (after a bit)
also, don't make any more debt payments until you've spoken to someone - you need that money to manage on.0 -
Back from nightshift and i still cant sleep. At least i did some shopping on the way home in Asda. Managed to only spend £15.48 got most of what we need for the week. Thanks to all for replies. One question if anyone can help. Would my employers need to know if i go on a DMP and could i lose my job.
Will try and get to bed soon so will check in again later tomorrow when no one is around. night all take care0 -

You say you worked out that you had a surplus over your outgoings well thats enough CCCS will be able to help you. get onto them straight away they will lift a huge weight off of your shoulders, which will give you piece of mind and enable you to sleep at night which you must do if looking after children and holding down two jobs.
Please ring them as soon as possible they will help you.
As someone else said whatever you do pay your priority bills ie: mortgage, council tax, utilities and food these are what keep a roof over you and your kids heads, when you have children to consider your unsecured credit etc is secondary and insignificant.0
