Hi Mrs M,
Im really really sorry, I dont mean to be a pest, but, I was wondering if I could reduce my amount for April. I had originally asked for it to be set for £450, but, DH and I decided not to use our usual supplier for our butcher meat (usually I would buy it in bulk because, he sells it in boxes). Wehn I first started using that butcher, he said everything was weighed in lbs. This butcher comes round the doors, and I was speaking to one of my neighbours and she said she doesnt use him anymore because, when she weighted a packet of mince, it didnt weigh 1lb, and she weighed a couple of more things, and they didnt weigh 1lb either. So, we think he may have been a bit dishonested.
So, if Im not using him, I will just go to a local butcher that my neighbour has recommended (there is always a queue outside the butchers and my granny used to always say "if theres a queue outside a butcher, that means hes a good butcher"), and I will just buy a "normal" amount of butcher meat.
Im really sorry, and hope it isnt too much trouble, so, if you dont mind if you could please reduce my amount for April to £300.
Thank you very very much.
Jackie xx
P.S. Sorry for the big ramble. xx0 -

A NS day here today. The chicken and broccoli pies were a real success so I spent this evening making up 4 Ham, cheese and leek pies. The ham was some from a gammon I did in the slow cooker. I have some individual pie dishes I bought for 10p each on a car boot sale and they are very handy for this. I pop the filling in (veggies cooked in stock as suggested and then thickened into a gravy) and I top with wholemeal pastry, brush with egg and pop in the oven.
This thread is a real inspiration for ways on stretching ingredientsThank you everyone :T

Being a bit of a grocery thread virgin please could somebody tell a simple soul like me what a whoopsie is...I'm only familiar with it as being something that comes out of a dog's botty and needs disposing of in a bag:D

I just sweat an onion off with the leeks, add the carrot, add some stock (HM or oxo type), some dried mixed herbs and cook for about half an hour or so. LovelyI freeze any leftovers in mugs for a cupasoup ready to bung in the microwave.
I prefer chunky soup too but I need it clear for tomorrow as I have to have a procedure done Wednesday morning which requires strained "clear" soupkittynortheast wrote: »GEMMZIE I love leek and smoked haddock rissotto. www.bbc.co.uk/food type it in the search bit and it's a recipe by James Martin. I just make the rissotto itself rather than putting the big bit of fish on top with the parsley oil (makes it more thrifty) it is gorgeous.
Oh, the mascapone you need for this recipe can be used instead of cream, I manage to get 3-4 meals out of each tub so none gets wasted.
That sounds gorgeous, will see how we can adapt it. (No wheat, no dairy diet )No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Ok 1st month and first few days have gone terrible! I blame it on OH being off from work but he goes back tomorrow so no more leading me astray!!
Ok here goes with the confessions: Last night we had a takeaway £25.00 eek! and today OH decided he wanted subway for lunch £6.00 (of course I had to have one too!:rotfl: )
So to make up for it tonight I'm menu planning for the rest of the week, and WILL stick to it! and tomorrow I'll be rescuing (sp) all the veg in the fridge that needs using up for a soup for OH to take to work for his lunch:A
Hope every one is having more NSD's than me!!April GC- 50.00 / 250.00 :j

Hi I hope ive done this right as its my first ever post.
MrsM, I would like to be included in this month if I may, my month is from 01st to 30th inc. Please could you put me down as £175.00, this is for me, oh, 1 cat and 2 gerbils. Im hoping this will be enough for all food, pet food, cleaning materials and toiletries. (hopefully ive overestimated)
Many thanks
